What teams are playing a predominantly ASA and/or showcase schedule?

There has been discussion lately about parents of younger DD's that are relatively "new" to the travel ball world not knowing which teams or organizations set their schedules to be competitive. I admit that I am one of those parents. In an effort to educate us newbies, let us know what tournaments your organization (and age level) will be attending this year. Are you playing a predominantly ASA schedule? Is there a reason for this?

ASA/USA is the tournament a team wants to be at in the end. Thus, you must qualify by winning the States or National Qualifier or a Metro qualifier. Just say I would think that in the 14u, 16u and 18u divisions for sure.

We're an older 12U team, and we're playing all ASA. Why? Better overall competition in my opinion.

We are starting at the Wave tournament, going to Gapss, Stingrays, Lasers, hitting the ASA states, the Hawks ASA/USA Qualifier, OFC Heatin' It Up, and on to Bloomington Indiana for the ASA/USA if we qualify. If not, we'll head to York PA for the Eastern Nationals.

Buckeye Heat '95 (14U) is playing a nearly complete ASA schedule aimed at three things: 1) qualifying for ASA/USA Nationals; 2) playing the best competition; and 3) getting exposure for our players and the team.

Here is our present draft of our 2010 schedule:

Dayton Metro ASA/USA National Qualifier (1 berth)
Cincy Doom Spring Madness
ASA States (4 nat’l ASA/USA berths)
Lasers Gold Invitational
14U Open Qualifier (1 nat’l ASA/USA berth)
Cleveland Metro ASA/USA National Qualifier (1 berth)
Stingrays Invitational
HoH Final Fling
GAPSS Invitational
ASA/USA Nationals or ASA Eastern Nationals

I worry sometimes that if we don't have success in these tough competitions, our players may lose morale, but we've set our goals and are willing to run the morale risk with a schedule that addresses those goals.

I couldnt have said it better, alot of your teams that you aim to emulate play exclusive A.S.A., the showcases usually draw the most coaches also.

3. May 29-30th Hawks tourney (providing school ball doesnt have my players)
4. June 4-6th Doom madness Goshen
5. June 12-13th A.S.A. State 16u Findlay, ohio
6. June 18-20th Akedema tourney Indy or USA/ASA 16U Dayton metro
7. June 25-27th Heatin it up Cincy Ohio
8. July 2-4th Sluggerfest Cincy Ohio
