So 3 kids out of a roster of 20 stick it out......that sounds about right. Some can't juggle the college/athlete experience, other lose their starting spot and quit, others believe they should be starting and quit, and yet others can't stand the coaches and quit or the coaches are tired of the kid's bullcrap and are released.

Len,
Another huge reason is that D3 schools can only offer academic money. The coach can get some academic money for a kid but it will usually be only about 1/2 of what is required annually. D3 schools are quite expensive. An $18,000 a year scholarship sounds great until you see that the annual tuition, room & board, and fees are $36,000 or even higher.
So if a family and/or kid doesn't want to go deep into debt paying for college, then the kid has to decide between getting a job or playing ball. Let's face it, at the D3 level, softball isn't going to get you a six figure career.
And then there is another route to playing college softball. This storyline is still developing and I promise to fill y'all in when it has come to fruition. :cap:
