I was at a softball tourney today, and I saw and heard things from an player and assistant coach, disrespecting the headcoach in front of the players he was coaching and who his daughter played with. I just wonder what kinda of coach can do that then expect his players to respect him or his dd. I know all who were involved but this should not happen, if you remember a team motto ( we are here for one cause to win, individuals make great plays, play great games, but A TEAM win games, individuals cant) so I hope that this individual reads this and though he is what I consider a associate, his actions prove he is no coach as of yet. Sit back, learn, you may know positions and you may know drills, and even know coverages, but it takes more than that to make a coach, It takes passion, a time to know when to speak, and when to keep Quiet. A time to manage, and listen to umpires and a time to blow, but when you blow, don't expect to win. KEEP YOUR COMPOSURE. Good luck!!!J

This type of coaching is so destructive to a girls team, watch teams where coaches are involved in drama and you will see a team fall apart.

That is a sad situation and I pray isnt common in our game but I witnesses a similar situation last summer when I went to a tournament my dear friend was coaching in.
One of his assistants badmouthed him openly as he walked by twice in front of all the people behind the bench. The woman next to me looked like she shared my disgust so I asked if this had happened before and she said it had and that she was angry about it because the coach was doing a great job. What was more appalling was the man was wrong in his assessment anyway. It is amazing the difference in what the untrained and trained eye views. I saw a team with at best average talent look disciplined and polished and a coach running a game plan that played to their strengths instead of what is popular. I chose not to tell my friend what happened as like most men he would say no big deal but I know it would hurt him. I am amazed that none of the parents that are obviously angry about it never said anything and let him undermine the coach.

This rerun comes back year after year... and guess what softball fans? It won't change either. So, like your mother taught you, change the things you have the power to change, and ignore the rest. Move on!!

A foolish coach is a wise teacher. Kids aren't stupid - they know an a** when they see one. Consider one of these "episodes" a learning experience, and move on. If EVERYONE would heed that advice, these guys would fade away for lack of players.

We had one of those in our area. He had a high turnover rate every year. He had to fold the team....everyone got tired of him. You are right Sammy......he just faded away!

I personally have had to deal with this a few times. It happens in all sports. The sad thing is that some teams are a very sound team and this can destroy the team. You have to lead by example and that means what you say as well as what you do....

I was in Pickerington this weekend and saw the samething. the third base caoch for the Crush who I have known for a few years lost his cool with the umpires. He used to tell me to pick your battles and balls and strikes are not it. He also argued a call at first base knowing the base umpire did not see it. He normally is the coolest guy out there never arguing petty **** sent him an email telling him to read this post. This part is more to the point of the post, during the second game the first base coach starts ripping into him while he sat on his bucket finger in his face and every girl on the infield watched her do it. Not sure what happened, but that seems that should happen away from the team. I know he was embarrassed, could see it in his face when he came back out to third.

Now that the team has been identified, you'd better say which Crush organization as there are two fairly well known ones in Ohio and I'd hate for the wrong one to be saddled with this thread.

All I will say is it is not the Heath Crush. I will be apologizing to my parents and the team for losing it with the umpires. I know better and it does not help the team.

Thanks. And if it's any consolation, we've all either lost it or been very tempted to lose it with umpires.

BOTH!!!! CRUSH TEAMS, are great organizations, Heath, and Crush Fastpitch, crush fastpitch qualified for nationals last year, and the 15u crush fastpitch under Todd Morehart, have already qualified for next years nationals and has a strong young team who has not been completed yet waiting for 1 or 2 players, they qualified in nationals with 8 15-u players and a 14-u called up, Heath, has always had a strong team under Kyle Gross- winning world series a couple of years ago with most of the same girls he has now. I have never seen more people dedicated to winning or wanting to win or wanting to improve more than these teams, anyone looking to play for someone who wants to win, and who can be an asset should try and connect with either of these teams, dont know if Heath has any openings but I know they were looking, and Todd, still has 1 or 2 openings, and I know he is looking for a Pitcher, who will get time if proven, and maybe an infielder/outfielder, based on talent.

my team has been around this organization before this is not the first time this guy has done that he charges out there on the field like he is going to punch the umpire especially if they are alot smaller and alot older than him
their starting pitching is his daughter and he call pitches for them he has pitches he calls when he wants her to hit the other batter usually key players she is also known to spit at other players on other teams this is not the same team that qualified for nationals last year they only have 4 or 5 players left from last year the others left my team has picked up a few of their players from last year The head coach had a cussing match with her assistant from last year in front of their team and the other team so from what I have seen and from what my player's families have told me this behavior with that team is not unusual. They have even told me that the head coach held a meeting with them at the nationals about this guy and the team as a whole had said they did not want him in the dugout at all so instead of listening she makes him her assistant most of these comments on here you can tell are from parents of theirs to candy coat the situation if I was a tournament organizer I wouldnt allow them in it gives a blackeye to the sport your towns and your kids shouldnt have to see it hear it or be subjected to it. I know tempers can get heated during the games that is understandable but from what I seen this is a very very nasty one and should not be ignored

I don't believe in getting on a forum and talking about something no one knows all the facts about. I just want to say this. This problem has been handle so there is no need to chat about it anymore.

This person doesnt feel it needs addressed in a forum of this manner then dont act like that in public They say its been handled that means then the guy must have been removed but i doubt it did they handle the pitcher spitting at other players NO she still pitches for them. I see no denile about calling the pitches to go after certain batters that it nice. I'm not trying to stir things about this organization because I have seen some of their other age groups never noticed a thing wrong but this U-16 team is a bad situation same things happened with this guy at a earlier fall tournament running out on the diamond after umpires like a total bezerko.. They have some very well behaved players. I get alot off this info from my players their parents and other coaches some things I ve seen with my own eyes like I said I wouldnt allow them in any tournament I put on. This is not the opinion of just me I ve heard it from others at the Pickerington tournament and friends I know that are involved with other organizations

That is why I will be having second thoughts about entering tournaments they are in and I hope others do the same just to show coaches like these we dont need them and are girls dont need to see it.
