What are the worst tournaments you have played and why? After experiencing so many bad tournaments, it seems only fitting that this should be a category all by itself to help teams decide whether they want to play certain tournaments. Let the rave reviews begin...

Thread should really be inside the tournament review section. Maybe have two threads and place them as sticky so they stay on the top of the section.

Maybe call the title: Best softbal tournament , Worst softball tournament.

Om a side note with all the bad weather that when seen I'm sure alot of newbies would down grade events due to rain.

Do you really think this is a appropriate thread ?

In my mind it is just a way for people with hidden agendas to bash people!

I think using the review section is better fitted for this.

I think giving a event a review give the (TD) good feedback that can help him or her to make there event better.

Ricky,
In my opinion it was't a review they were asking for it was just for the worst. I guess I just think there is to much negativity in this world to have a thread just about ripping people apart. JMHO

You asked if this thread was appropiate? I say yes, teams are wasting their hard earned money on tournaments that have serious flaws and these poorly run outings should be exposed. My original post asked "WHY" is it one of the worst tournaments. Blaming rain has nothing to do with a tournament and as far as hidden agendas/ bashing, half of the stuff on the internet is BS and everything you read should should be viewed with some skepticism. Is it possible your tournament may of had some issues that paying parents may have had some issue with? Hhhhmmmm.

Don't think it's possible, but maybe. I always bust my butt to get it in at all cost, and do the best job possible.
I think if you truly knew me you would not be throwing false accusations out there but I guess it is what it is.

I don't care who event were talking about. If you want to do a review on a tournament, go do a review inside the tournament review section. I don't really have a probelm with a top 10 tournament list or still needs work tournament list. And if you had a probelm with Warren tournament, I'm not saying you did but if you did? I'm sure Warren would be happy to see your reviews and feedback if done in the appropriate matter.

The weather comment was in reference to all the rain. Nothing else.

Softball Zone Moderators.

When teams are looking at tournaments they frequently cross state lines to play their games.
Would it be possible to delete the 'OH' restriction and make this section 'Softball Tournament Talk; Standings, Results - Tournament & Facility Reviews by members.'
Since it seems silly to break this down into individual states (unless WV suddenly explodes with tourneys) this shouldn't be a problem but would be of greater service to the community.

I agree, I will update the name.

Thanks

I'm all for the criticism, but it probably should be done in a constructive way. I'm not sure the best thing for girls fastpitch is to try to tear a tournament to shreds. The more opportunities out there the better. I do agree problems should be pointed out and addressed so things may be worked on to be improved, but I just think a thread called the worst tournaments may not really be the right way to go about it.

I can tell you that Warren busts his butt on the tournaments he runs. The man cares a lot what people think and he tries to please. When things are out of his control, he stresses because he wants to keep his word.

I think it's safe to say we should give ALL TD's a break with all of the rain we've received. It's not like the Ohio facilities are built like the Crown Point, IN complex.

I agree about the tournaments that my daughter has played in that Warren has run. It has been top notch.

At the same time, am I the only one that is starting to get disgusted about the negative, complaining tone of this forum lately? It seems like some have gotten on here to do nothing but complain. I don't know that we need a complaint section about tournaments. I know that as we set our schedule we look for ones that people speak positively about without being asked. If you do that (and you can do that by paying attention to what is posted on here), you won't run into a situation to complain about often.

I have been a TD and I know the stress that goes into it. I was lucky to never have to deal with much rain during my stint as TD, so I know I was fortunate, but it is always a sticky situation and I guarantee that those of you doing the complaining have never done the TD thing. Until you do, you won't understand the work and stress that goes into running a tournament.

I have never run a tournament myself but am absolutely opposed to such a thread for reasons others have made clear. The tournament review section is the perfect place to comment on the goods and bads of tourneys.

I have been the TD for many a tournament and will be first to admit things never run perfect. When you add weather issues the entire situation just gets a little more difficult. I appreciate every TD efforts because I've been there, but that being said, there are some tourneys better than others. Like others have stated, I don't agree with the negative tone and would rather see a post about the best run tournaments.

I love reading Tournament reviews. I am always looking for ways to improve our Tournament and see what bothers Coaches, and Families the most.
Just like Softball Teams there are way to many Tournaments. With more knowledge you will go to the better Tournaments and as well as tryout for better Coaches and Organizations in August. I know I have nothing to hide. Our Tournament has a Facebook Page with a review section.

agree that this should be in the tournament reviews forum ....... hard to criticize a tournament when weather is a factor.

worst experience ever was at Capital City Bat Wars (cannot remember exact year .. maybe 2009 or 10) ..... played 1/2 inning day 1, 1 hour day 2, canceled day 3. Day 1 had a thunderstorm at 9am then Sun and warm weather all day .... City of Columbus had a crew of 8 to maintain 30+ fields but did not allow any games after 10am ..... only to have their city/rec teams playing in the evening.... While the TD was taking all of the heat, it was the City of Columbus who prevented the tournament from moving forward......... played in the same tournament three years ago, was a well run tournament.

BEST RUN TOURNAMENT
Orrville Fire In the Sky ........ The fire fighters there have the system down ... they use their chain of command structure and experience to give a well organized tournament that includes scheduling and maintaining the fields..... was amazed at how they handled weather issues and was able to keep the fields playable the majority of the time.

MOST IMPRESSIVE GROUNDS CREW (besides my fellow 16u Outlaws Premier Dads from last season.... Benny Hill theme music playing)
ASA Nationals in Sterling Virginia ...... two waves of thunderstorms came through within 90 minutes of each other ... the entire time, TD told teams involved to take safety but do not leave the park, the fields will be playable within an hour of the last drop of rain ... watched the City of Sterling bring in a 5 ton truck of dry absorbent (on pallets) .... the fields were prepped better than they were when we started. After talking to one of the city workers, he stated they would not have put that much time or money into it for a regular tournament .... but since it was Nationals, they made sure the fields were always playable.
