OQM, I have a question for you and I mean no disrepect at all. Your with IFA right? Then why do care about what teams are sanctioned ASA? It sounds to me like your trying to stir something that has nothing to do with you. Why do you care who attends ASA Nationals? I'm just couious, are you running an IFA event on the same weekend as the ASA "B" Nationals in Dayton? That seems to be the tournament you're refering to the most.

Again, I mean no disrepect to you. I'm just courious........

Well, Chris.. you asked me where I got my info on the ASA "B" classification like you didn't believe me when I said that "B" is consider community teams or rec ball teams who play in a league... and I gave you the link.

What's your conclusion of their wording in their own by-laws ? I have nothing on the weekend of the ASA 14u "B" in Dayton.

Why shut down the thread Ricky? I think it is informative to many teams and people.

We have talked about how OHSAA rules hurt our Ohio girls when we are competing against other states for the scholarship dollars when they can't win "travel money expenses" like the girls can in other states.

We talked about how much people (it seems that way) dislike time limits on girls games.. or at least unreasonable ones... like 1:00 or 1:10 or 1:15 ones....

I think it is informative. Most hitted thread in here.

We at IFA don't make teams book through a booking agent for motels so we can get "our" cut.. or penalize teams who don't use their (other associations) booking agent for major events.

I can't wait for our nationals. I had a phone call from a team out of New Jersey yesterday. Had a great conversation with him.. He is orginally from Ohio and he keeps up with the OFC. He asked about our 14u Nationals in Springfield, IL. He said he wasn't coming to Dayton to play the 14 "B" as he said his girls would get beat terribly there in Dayton.

His reasoning: Almost every ASA 14u team in Ohio is going to be "B" this year.

Any team that we have ever been a part of has never been forced to stay at a particular hotel at any of the nationals that we have attended. There were hotels that were recommended but by no means were we "made to" use these hotels or were we 'penalized" for not doing so. We have attended three different sanctioned nationals or world series and I know that this is not all of them but I can assure you that no such restriction was EVER placed on our teams at any of the tournaments that we were fortunate enough to attend.

As for the ASA 14U "B" eastern national I think that you could not possibly be more incorrect. Any team from any state in this country who would be afraid of attending the ASA "B" nationals in dayton must not be a travel team at all. First of all the level of competition at a "B" ASA tournament is rather low. Any 14U team that is even slightly above avergage would not consider attending this event. It is primarily for local teams and league teams and everyone knows that. There is NO GLORY in a team playing down to have a chance to win the ASA "B" nationals. If you are a true travel team this would not even be on your radar. Again these events are properly situated for the teams that they are intended to attract. It is perfectly set up for local all-star teams and league teams. For some team from New Jersey to assume that just because this tournament is being held in Ohio that it will be loaded up with good solid travel teams is embarassing. You should have informed this coach that good travel teams here in Ohio have a little more self respect then that.

I do not know of one established ohio 14u travel team that is considering attending this "B" tournament.

Why shut it down....good information seems to be traded well here. BTW, is this the first time in OFC history that an exact lockdown warning has been issued? This is a new twist to be sure. Kinda cool. Maybe every thread should come with an expiration time and date. :)

Can you imagine how many posters will be tickling the keyboards at 4:59pm today just to be the one who has the last word on this monumental masterpiece? Also, lets set a betting line on who will be the first one to start a new thread....Questions about IFA payouts....Part Deux.

It is probably just to limit the number of posts on this one thread so people don't get so lost trying to follow it.

cshilt that is a good thought but how would Ricky know that the max post count would be surpassed right at 5:00pm EST on Monday Jan 12th 2009?

She must get off at 5:15...LOL... Ricky, at least wait until she gets off. I have meetings tonight I have to attend about sofbtall.... so I won't be able to post this evening...

I love how people think it is so great to come bash me.... with the laughing signs, etc... Standing ovations... but when you answer their questions they get upset... or when you defend yourself.... they get upset.

Ringer, you got to admit you haven't seen prizes like we try to give away in any other association's event. We aren't talking about the team organization events as we all know that is a fundraising events for the teams. Which is great.

But, when the state association run their state events and bid them out... where does that bid money go? Back to the girls in prizes? Nope. To help them get to the Nationals ? Nope? Paid berths (until we found out from OHSAA that it was illegal as well) but it has been done for years. Nope.

It goes in their pockets and that could be why, as well, as the kickbacks from motel rooms, the penalties for not using one associations motel scheduling services.. they could careless less about the girls as one association has proved that over the past two years.

Tell me Ringer, where have they given back ? As for your Wilmington comment, at 7 pm when it rained 2 inches of rain and there was lakes on the fields... did you truly think I was going to go out at 8 pm when it quit raining and pump the fields to play? Just wondering if I should have.. or should I listen to the National weather service who tells me it might not be done for the evening.... send the team back to the motels to r e l a x .. see what it was going to do and get ready for the next day (sunday). And when I saw that the fields in Wilmington wasn't draining...I brought in a helicopter so the girls could indeed play in their last chance to qualify for the NSA World Series.

Two places played in Ohio that Sunday.. me and Dayton, Ohio (a 4 team tournament).

So I don't understand your comment Ringer. I guess I must have done something wrong ???? in Wilmington and spend 1200.00 for a helicopter so the girls could indeed play on Sunday. Or was I wrong to listen to the experts (National Weather Service).

I know we did indeed play on Sunday... the whole tournament... not an abbriated one... the whole event.... and it looked like to me the coaches, the players and the parents had fun. Or at least they said they did. I don't think they minded playing the whole tournament.

You missed my point my friend. Nowhere did I say you did something wrong. I just stated that there are things out of our control and when those things happen we must adjust (i.e. shorter games, less games, etc.) All I'm saying is don't judge and execute eveyone else who runs an ASA, USSSA or yes even NSA or NAFA. the tournament is only as good as the poeple who run it. There are lousy ASA tournaments and great NSA tournaments and vice versa.

BTW, I realize that ASA, USSSA and NSA must be run as a business and they need to generate some revenue to stay operational.

TheRinger I did not see your question to OQM as anything other then a question. He just tends to take things the wrong way. Not as a question or even as a slight constructive criticism instead it must be a shot at him personally. I have not seen many direct questions answered lately, just blah blah blah, and stories about helicpoters and other TD's unscrupulous tactics. Maybe it is best that we move on from this topic since it has become a little like trying to get answers from the recording on an asnwering machine. BTW OQM I do not work, I am a stay homer.
