ed,
You are really starting to split hairs. No one outside of the people running a tournament have any say so on where the money goes. They can charge what they want and, they can do with the money whatever they see fit. I've attended a ton of tournaments in the five years that my dd has been playing travel ball and never once did the tournament director ever ask me if I approved of the way that they spent the money that they brought in. You really should re/la/x.

I don't remember saying anything about how a TD decided to spend their money, they are more then welcome to do whatever they want with it. My point for OQM at the moment is about the 14u team that he is giving an all expenses paid trip to go and attend a tournament in KY. Is he paying for this out of his own pocket or with IFA funds? I think that there is a something a little interesting about a regional director of IFA providing an all expenses paid tournament trip for a team to go to another state to compete in a tournament. How was the team selected? Why was that team selected? Why wern't other teams informed about such an oppertunity? Just a few questions that I think some of us would be curious to know the answers to.

Maybe it is a friends team, maybe it is his own money, its not like he hasn't spent his own money before. remember the helicopter. I have two 14U teams and I do not care that he is sending a team to Kentucky.

And maybe you, Edamame, should just say "OQM that is a really nice thing to do." and leave it at that.

Just like Wgman21 said. It's no one place to ask anyone how they spend their money.

Wow, First... It is not a threat to my 2009 TD's. I just have an "incentive program". Yes, NSA charges $40 per team for a world series qualifier. I know. I paid it in June of 2008. USSSA is a certain $ dollar amount PLUS $5.00 per team.

The money I am spending for the 14u team to go to Kentucky to play... is OHIO IFA money. And Ohio IFA is me. I am "donating" the money for them to go to their organization for the sole purpose of them going to the event. Yes, the coach is a friend... but I have many friends in this softball community.
But, Ed... you get the wrong idea. The money I talk about going into "pockets" isn't the TD or the organization... it the national organization/ state director's pocket. Nothing wrong with that... but I do give back. Like after this year's Uniform Blowout in Chillicothe... I put all the names into a hat who attended... and drew out a team name for a free event in the 2009 Uniform Blowout. That is Tim Rice and the 15u Phoenix team. In 2008, 12u Stingrays was the free receipiant of the 2008 Uniform Blowout as they attended the 2007 one in Wilmington and their name was drawn the same way.

I just do things like that. That's me. I like giving back to the girls. I couldn't afford to give the 14u team Friday night's stay... but I took care of them for Saturday night. Just waiting on the date of the tournament (which I'll know by the end of the week) and let the 14u coach know and he will let me know if he can attend. I hope he can. I like him and I like his girls and their parents. If not, I have another tournament for them to attend in Kentucky. They have supported my effort here in Ohio for the girls. Now, I'll support them.

lol Bad Medicine.... Question is: Did you read the 23 pages?...lol I can't hybernate. Just busy trying to get everything set in nine states. There's a new park in Quakertown, Pennsylvania where I am trying to set a tournament up. No kidding aside, Quakertown, PA. It's between Philly and NYC.

Actually, if family history serves me right... this is an area where my forefathers moved to after settling Germantown, PA.

Yeah but 21 of those pages are by Jesus and The Flake. I think my grandma had an old 78 rpm record of them back in the 50's

You have to be the West Virginia lottery winner dude to go make it rain in the strip joints (See Powerball winner of 2007 right before Christmas). Biggest Jackpot and he is almost broke. Wife left him, robbed of his briefcase twice (once at the strip joint and once in his driveway at his home). Both time with over a million dollars in the briefcase.

Quakerflake isn't a millionaire.

IFA National has allowed me to bring down the team sanctioning costs to $10.00.

Hey Ringer, what until I unleash this idea I got come Monday morning that I have in my head... after a Sunday night conference call with all the Regional and Area Directors in IFA to make sure I can do it.

Never been done in this state. I can tell you that.

Re: Just an Honest Opinion!

This post was moved from the "Just an Honest Opinion" thread - the original posts referred to are still buried in that thread.

It's off topic for this thread, so I won't continue it beyond one post, but ... ohioquakerman, you bristle when someone counters your comments with anything but praise, but I don't think you understand how you come across.

I have no bias one way or the other, I'd just like to prevent future head-butting. The way you post (repeatedly and in a way that sounds loud) reads to some like a yelling used car salesman ("I want to sell YOU a car NOW!!!!" - "Ohio NAFA is 100% percent behind you.!" "I'll bring IFA to Western PA!"). I'm sure your heart is in the right place, but there are so many "I's" ("I did this, I did that") that it can ring false, plus the blanket criticism against other sanctioning bodies sounds like a big sell, which can come off as insincere. I think you're working against yourself and what you're trying to do. And, honestly, anyone who wants to pay for a team to go to a tournament out of their own pocket should be commended - but not everyone would announce it on a public forum, and that's why people thought you were talking about IFA money and the implications that would bring.

I'm not trying to be harsh, but I think if you tone it down a bit, people will listen more to what you're saying and won't have to get through how you say it. But since last year it was all NAFA and now it's all IFA (and I understand what happened), you must understand people are going to consider carefully before following along and breaking with long-held schedules.
