They must be talking about the "C" Crestwood team. Garrettsville Jags do not have any travel ball players, and Windham only has 2.

Thats what I was trying to find out. We have 2 travel players and it appears that in Our area that most teams have about the same. Only 1 team the #1 plays tournaments together as a team during the season. We play OGSO because our city rec league wouldn't be helpful even for practice and our tournament team doesn't play during the week. Here its considered a step up from rec and teams have tryouts. I thought it was that way in all the counties involved.

I coach an OGSO rec team in a small community. Some of the travel girls here "tinker" with rec ball, but their dedication is to Travel. I have no probelm with that choice. But the Lorain-Medina teams seem to have more dedication to their community teams than my area does, and are better overall. They seem to have more travel girls play rec also. Northcoast Spirt 10u is a loaded travel team that recently blasted some of this areas travel teams. And most of those girls play on their communty rec teams also. They played in the LM district tournament. My guess is the coach does not schedule anything over the OGSO tournamnets. I wish it was like that here.

WOW
dd0818 you must be one of those parents that likes to take time away from those rec ball players when that is all they have So your dd can bat .700 or strike out 20 batters a game. I just don't understand it but that's me.
YA All Come back now YA here.

Wwoff since you admit that your daughter is on a rec team that is stacked with travel players "you must be one of THOSE parents."

Not sure there stacked since this group of girls has played together since coach pitch. Through the years more and more kids went into travel ball for more oppertunity. We just moved here and DD wanted to do it I didn't want her to but as stated before I was over ruled. I still would not have let her if it was up to me!!!
Not sure where you our going with this but just come out and say it. No need for the back door tactics.

I'm pretty sure Amherst won B. I know Spencer won C in an exciting game, 4-3 final. Columbia scored 2 in the top of the 7th to go up 3-2 and Spencer came back with 2 of their own in the bottom of the 7th to win. Oberlin won D 5-0 on a no hitter along with a no doubt solo bomb into the wind.. No idea who won A.

No, it's not the world championships by any stretch, but the girls have fun and compete as best they can. I've had mixed feelings about it for years, but the important thing is getting out there and doing the best you can and gaining the benfits of sport.

Seems like it was Barry Sander's dad who always told him no matter how good you think you are, there is always someone else a little better. All you can do is go do the best you can.

Most of our girls still play OGSO, this year we had 4 really good teams in 10U. 3 of them had Spirit girls the other a team from Keystone(which in my opinion was the best all-around team)played tournaments as the Tidalwaves. We had 4 girls in 10U(A) and 5 playing in 12U(B). The main reason my DD played is to work on pitching which she doesn't get to do with the Spirit. This was most likely the last year for my DD simply to many games and the quality of pitching doesn't help her get ready for weekend play! The week we were in the Toledo Tune-up she played 11 games in 6 days, just to much for a 10U. OGSO tourneys never really effect tourney ball after the Nailbiter we usually go right to Nationals. Most all of our girls play on different OGSO teams and face each other not all stacked on one team. But most of our Spirit girls are from the Lorain Co. area and will play each other in High School. It makes me proud when someone refers to us as loaded when most of the girls live 20 mins. apart. Lorain Co. is loaded with talented young ladies and we happen to have a few of them. Best of luck to all at States!!
Co. champs(I'm pretty sure)
(A) Keystone
(B) Amherst
(C) Spencer
(D) Oberlin

Warren,
It just amazes me how you judge and make rude comments about other rec teams that have travel ball players on it or about how awful rec ball is "wreck ball". Commenting on parents who let their children play both and refer to them as "one of those parents". Why in none of these other judgmental post did you not state that you're one of those parents? I have no issue with kids playing both if that is what works for their family.

I again do not agree with her doing both and never have agreed with it. I'm not sure how else I can state it. Was not my choice again I do not agree with it. Not sure I'm getting through to you. I do not think it is fair to girls that only do rec ball. This is my opinion and was not MY choice.

As far as rec ball it has it's place just like any other organized sport for our youth. I think OGSO is good for smaller communities like Windham Garrettsville, Mantua, etc gives the rec ball players opportunities to compete in tournament.
Now i will say at tournement time you play to win JMHO

Sorry I hit a nerve, but as far as my comments go if you knew anything about me you would know that I say things at times just to get a rise out of people.

It also amazes me how you can talk about me when you don't even really know me.

What I was talking about stacked rec teams is I have talked to people who have told me they have tryouts for there OGSO team and put the best in there city on 1 team. I thought it was a rec league where you draft a team and go with it.

Sorry to keep rambling on yes I do love travel ball yes do I put my heart and soul into it . Do I think rec ball has a place also yes our there coaches any less passionate about it no. and when i coached it i did it with the same passion as I do with travel ball.

I don't think a rec-ball team is stacked simply because they have travel girls on it. A stacked rec-ball team is one where an "A" team is selected instead of drafted. When a community only has one team it sometimes appears they are stacking when they might not really be doing so. If those girls are all travel ball girls, so be it.

Exactly what I meant alot of these smaller communities only have 1 team per age group so how can you stack it ?
In our area Windham, Garrettsville, and Mantua only have 1 team at most age groups so it is what it is. None of these towns can or do stack a team.

Wolfe, we are on the same page. But 2 of the comunities you list all have multiple teams at most levels.

Gville: A = 4, B = 3, C = 2
Crestwood: A =1, B = 2, C = 2
Windham: A = 1, B = 1, C = 1

As for recruiting from other communities; OGSO rules were originally designed to mirror high school guidelines. That is why the age determination date is not 12/31 like every other organization (issue for another day). Anyway, OGSO guidelines are the current school district boundary represents where you play. You can play outside your school boundary if the other community signs a release form. So, yes, you can recruit, I suppose, but the community/school district you reside in would need to sign off to allow it. I signed one this year. I would rather the girl play, than not play, since she wasn't going to play here.

I'm sorry Gville and Crestwood C teams are 1st year and 2nd year I think B league teams also are separated that way.
So different age groups is what I meant. I also signed releases when I was president of our league I would never not let a girl go play with her friends

Not sure my dd wanting to play with girls she was going to go to school with has anything to do with stacking a team. And other girl you talk of didn't want to play with those coaches at that time wanted to play with her friends after all that what rec ball is about.
