Sounds like you have one dominant pitcher keeping all those teams down. Good luck this year, hope you can play rec and travel, still would like to see the stats on those state high school champs as far as how many girls traveled in their careers. What about just entering a few tournaments with your rec team? I still think it would be really good for the whole team. Competition is a good thing, win or lose, as long as it is kept in perpespective. A loss in a scrimmage does not count on your record. It might for the team that beat you though Did you win or lose the state last year? If you lost, I would bet it was to a travel pitcher, right or wrong? Believe it or not , there is a world of difference in travel and rec.
This team has won State B division in back to back years, including this past year. They were runners up in their final year of the A division. They beat three travel ball pitchers this year in the State tournament. One from Lorain who played for the Diamond Chix Gold team in 12u, the second game was against the Ohio Ice pitcher that has been noted previously in this thread, and in the Championship game it was against the pitcher from the Cyclones 14u team who played up for that team but played her age (12u) in OGSO. Ironically, it was that same Cyclone pitcher that gave this team its last loss.
The work ethic of this team is second to none but as stated in earlier posts, it will become increasingly difficult to continue this run they are on without coming across competition that they face in the tournament, throughout the season. By allowing travel ball players to play OGSO in Portage, it is only going to make this team stronger in the coming years, regardless if they have any travel ball players on it.
