Bracket play for the Dragons 93

Dragons 7 Diamond Domminators 3
Muncie Magic(Indiana) 10 Dragons 4
Dragons 6 Bluegrass Blaze(Kentucky) 5
Earthquake(Indiana) 5 Dragons 4 ITB

Overall pretty good experience 1st time at Sluggerfest and Patty was very helpful. Fields could have used some water as it was a dustbowl and a couple slow pitch umpires. Including one that flinched almost every pitch like he was scared to be behind the plate. Also had to pull out the rule book to win an arguement cause neither umpire understood the look back rule.

Ohio Stealth went 1-1 in Pool Play 7-2 over Illinois Wicked and lost 4-1 to Kentucky Outlaws.

Bracket Play
W over Bluegrass Baze 5-4
W over Newburg Knights 5-4
L to Kentucky Outlaws 6-5
L to Indiana Earthquake 5-2

4 teams were left when we got knocked out last night:
Kentucky Outlaws and Munster Majic (I think) in the winners bracket and Cyclones and Indiana Earthquake.

Over all a pretty good tournament.

What a tournament. 90+ degrees with wicked humidity. We (Southern Ohio Cyclones) finished 4th. We had an epic battle Saturday night against the Buckeye Heat. Best game of softball I have ever seen. Both teams need commended. I'll post scores and all that later. Great job yclones, I couldn't be more proud of you.

Once I finally woke up this morning (total exhaustion!) I was still in awe of our 2 teams!!! One of the most classic games I have been part of. Your Cyclone team battled, we battled. All girls truly left everything on the field. I was touched when I looked into the stands once the game ended and saw that all of the fans were on their feet cheering - not just for their dd's team, but all of the girls. We were excited to have the opportunity to play your team again, to show what we could really do. You have a great hitting team with amazing defense and CLASS! We would be happy to play you anytime.

Great battle. Proud of our 15U team for winning 4 games and playing such a good game against a good team like the Cyclones to a IBT. The kid that hit the HR with two on to send it to a ITB , what a hit! Boy talk about being wore out. The dd had a hitting lesson with hitter Sunday and she was so beat up all she could do was Matrix drills! buckeyefamily, my wife got to watch a little of your game and told me the Ohio Steath was playing behind us at the same time. Good job. If we both had won we would have got to play each other.

Thank you! That was my 2nd oldest DD, she is a younger player that has learned a great deal playing with her older sis and other Cyclone players. Coach Brett Sadler has taught and continues to teach her and the team to respect the game and play hard regardless of the score. It was an awesome game and shows what happens when two hard working, respectful teams go head to head. Both teams won that game, we just happened to put one more runner across the plate...
While I saw the dinger, I missed the catch in left by my other DD, that's what I get for staying hydrated!!!

I cant imagine playing that last game late, late Saturday. We had played 4 games Saturday including the last 3 without a break and got eliminated at 10:10pm. Had we won we would have been playing another. Amazing effort by alot of girls on many teams. Great games. I know you may not be able to tell from some of the scores but all 6 of our games this weekend were tied going to the last inning with 2 ITB games. From a competition stand point it was a very fun weekend. Congrats to everyone.

That catch in left was definately something to see!!! It was a great game. One of the best I have seen, for sure. Great job to Buckeye Heat. Really proud of the Cyclones for gutting it out in the heat with no subs on that day.

It was one of the best games of the year for the Buckeye Heat 94s.

I sought to put together a very tough schedule for this year to teach these young ladies how to work hard to stay in every game they play. They have stepped up to the challenge. Every player on this team can play in this tournament next year. The experience playing this year can only make them better.

No rest of the weary. We are in the Cirlce City Gold Showcase in Indianappolis next weekend. Then on to the Stingrays tournament, ASA Cinderella in North Ridgeville, the All Sanction World Series in Berliner and ASA Eastern in York.

Now talk about some upcoming fun!!!

Cyclones.. the players, coaches and fans were all wonderful. Very classy organization.

Earlier Sat results.

Buckeye Heat 94s 10 Bustos Ultimates 1
Buckeye Heat 94s 10 NWO Lady Irish 1
Buckeye Heat 94s 5 Cincy Static 4
Buckeye Heat 94s 3 Central Ohio Ice 2

Buckeye Heat 94s 7 Cyclones 8 ITB.

Thank you for all the kind words. Johnnies, your team played with heart and intensity. I noticed your coaching staff giving my girls positive feedback on plays they made. That shows how classy your coaches/team is. I told your third baseman a few times how nice of a play she made and she responded "thank you sir." I also heard you tell a girl how proud you were of her being unselfish. That is HUGE with me. Team before Me! In this day and age in sports, it often rewards the outspoken, selfish individual. Many athletes would rather get paid than win. I try to teach my girls respect for the game itself. The object is to work as a team to win as a team. I am truly blessed also. I have a wonderful team that I wouldn't trade for the world. If we see the Buckeye Heat again, and we aren't in the other dugout, you can bet on us cheering for YOU! ;)

ps--Laurel, those 4 leaf clovers came in handy! I'm still laughing at what you said! "I find them like it's my job!" LOL

No the feeling with subs. The girl we had to put in the game, had a bad arm and still played hurt. Playing that many games is tough, when you are missing players or have no subs. That just goes to show you the effort the kids put in for both teams. I would also like to thank Howard Carrier from the Buckeye Heat coaches. From driving all the way from Akron with his wife to spend time with our kids Saturday. The kids really got some good information and enjoyed the visit. Just shows you his dedication to this sport and kids.

Johnnies,

Thanks for the positive comments about our organization, coaches and players. "The Game" as we refer to it, was the most exciting softball I have been part of in 16 years with this sport. From the very first pitch of the game, strong single and a second baseman is in the dirt trying to stop the ball, you knew both teams have something special. Both teams won that game in my mind. I wasn't aware your team was all 94's  All I can say is WOW, they are well coached and great athletes. Congratulations to you, your parents, players and the coaching staff. What an outstanding team....

Good luck with your schedule, hopefully we will get to see you in York at the Nationals.

Bill,

The team was upset they did not play well on Friday (trust me, they didn't)and did not show everyone the type of team they really were. They were more upset about the impression they left than the actual outcome of the game. Hence the challenge... Saturday is a new day and another chance to leave the impression that you want. They stepped up and did that.

The Cyclones are an amazing team with great coaches and parents. I could tell by the way the girls played, the looks on their face during the game and the appreciation they showed during the "line up" at the end of the game that the girls are an amazing group. It is really a pleasure coaching girls like the ones on the Heat and the Cyclones.. I know this and I know that Bill know this. The Cyclones will from here on be one of my favorites. Against each other - we will battle. Against others, we will cheer you!

At York, lets get the two teams together for a pizza party and have some fun!

Johnnies, sent you a PM.

A reflection of effort from both teams:

Heat + Hummidity + powderly like substance + EFFORT = "The Game"

Priceless...

Folks, in case you are wondering, that is not from a muddy field. That is a young lady that mixed humidity, hard work sweat and a dusty field to create that fine looking uniform. I will tell you that my dugout was cracking up along with you and your players after seeing her. Priceless!

Sorry not trying to invade this thread, but I was just checking out scores and began reading this. I found myself at the end and realized that I was crying. Call it exhaustion from our tourney today or call it jealousy that my DD's coaches would never talk this fondly about the girls on our team, but I am happy that there are still some good people out there that care about the girls that are out there sweating it up only to make us proud. Sorry-new tourney team and it has already been a very long summer.

Thank you for being so complimentary about the girls that play on your team.
