Not for the 16's, and I'm assuming not for the 18's either, just an "A" bid, but thats a good question. ?I'll do some checking and find out. ?So I guess it wouldn't be quite "The Big Dance", but pretty close. ;)

[/quote]So possibly the winner of 18U goes to ASA Nationals in Moline, Illinois?

two berths for 16u to Owensboro Kentucky
two berths for 18u to Moline Indy

this tournament was awarded after the other tournaments were bid on. It is a region 9 ASA National Qualifier and doesn't allow a team outside of region 9 to qualify. It is the only tournamnet in the state that awards two bids this summer. No matter how many teams sign up for it.

yes it is a shame it is the same weekend as Stingrays.

Any updates? And does anyone have an address or something close to where these fields are that we are playing on?

Thanks,
Marie

Heard over the weekend that teams might drop out of Stingrays to attend this tourney....

Also have an email out to Tom for an update...if there is one.

Mr. Beckham....Why is it a shame?? I thought the mighty Stingray committee selected all the powerhouse teams from Ohio to participate in their tourney!!...For instance, like yours!!...Not all teams can be champions or win enough tournaments like those selected to get in the Stingray tournament!!!...Now for us weaker teams, we get a opportunity to find a tournament that will accept us so we can play that weekend and it becomes a "shame" because all the big name teams are at the Stingray's tournament the same weekend!!....What's "the shame", you think the date should be changed so your team can be in both???....What about us weaker teams, should we start complaining to anyone that will listen too!!

The shame was that ASA didn't have their act together and let these two major events happen on the same weekend. As a matter of fact, The 16u Ohio Classics Black have respectfully withdrawn from the Stingray tournament so that we can play in the Region 9 Qualifier.

You don't get it, do you Dave?..."This shame" quote has really bothered me!!....There are only so many weekends in the summer with Compuware,Stingrays,Best of the Best,Gapps and the Blah,Blah,Blah tournaments.( In fact, you are even holding a weekend tournament yourself??) No matter how good everyone thinks their team is going to be, why should every tournament be accomodating to just them!!!....Why should the ASA fall all over themselves to the participants of the Stingrays tournament and adjust their schedule???... the Stingray's is just another tournament with competing teams trying to win a trophy at the end!! (Two teams standing and no one there watching, but parents!!) ...That's why teams make decisions before they are put on the spot six months in advance!!!....and then again in our case, some tourney directors make decisions for them!!...apparently in your case, bowing out of the Stingrays is a wise decision for your team!!...But if more teams follow in your path, they either will not be invited back next year or they will just plain out make alot of people mad that have put alot of effort in planning the 2008 Stingray tournament..( Now, I'm starting to feel sorry for them!!)......I guess your 16-U team is going to tell the Stingray tourney directors that a berth to yet another tournament is more important than winning a trophy at the "GrandDaddy Showcase" of all tournaments....
I wish you and your team the "Best of Luck"!!
Sorry to vent Dave but the" shame" part of all this, is that teams (apparently like your team) really do believe it's a "shame" that all these tournament directors could actually meet together and accomodate each other for the six /seven weekends in the summer.....Why would they actually do that ??? Are they not trying to make fundraising monies for their own organizations?????...anyway..have a Great year!!!

After hearing back from Tom, there are no new additions to the tourney, but I imagine there will be.... ;)

Could it be that the "shame" is that teams who really want to go to the ASA National Tournament had to make decisions as to what tournament bids to accept back in October/November, and the ASA did not award its tournaments until after then? Rather than being "a shame", I think it might just be plain old frustration on everyone's part. JMHO.

What about the NQ in Pickerington, Oh in June. How many berths for the 16u?

Heat 29

1 berth 16U to Owensboro KY 24 teams entered. - so far
1 berth 18u to Moline IL 16 teams entered. - so far

Unless ASA comes up with another berth we are having one berth per age group.

so far means teams can enter up until 8 days before our tournament. Teams from out of state have this notion that Ohio ball may be an easy route in... I'm pretty sure our berhs will go to Ohio teams :)

This looks like a great chance to qualify when you look at the field that
was at ASA States and the Classics qualifier.

Why aren't there more teams in 16 and 18 - even if they are in
another tournament, I would think a chance to go to ASA nationals
would be worth it.

This is the same weekend as the Stingrays tournament. As teams lose out on chances at Pickerington, you will see teams drop out of Stingrays to get in this tourney.

Re: 16U and 18U USA/ASA Region 9 National Qualifie

What teams from Ohio have qualilfied for 16u and 18u?
I know Nightmare and Wolfpack are in from 16u,
Elyria and Ohio Attack from 18u.

Many teams, especially 16u with nationals in Kentucky, can go to Ashland an try for a bid
(in a smaller and less competitive field)!

16u teams left not in
Valley Extreme Blue
Lasers Aqua
OFC Heat
Miami Valley Express
Cincy Doom
Buckeye Heat 91
Akron Sapphires
Ohio Ice

all of the above teams are more than qualified and deserving to
go to ASA Nationals, why won't they try this last chance qualifier?

Same goes for these 18u teams
Grand Slam - this really is a shocker they are not entered
Cincy Tribe
Sunraze Black
Buckeye Heat Abraham
Central Ohio Lady Rebels
Valley Extreme Blue
Either Stingrays team (I know they have their tournament, but
a great chance to go to nationals)

The Doom is a region 10 team, they cannot play in a region 9 qualifier.
