Here's your answer for why I said awhile back in another thread that all these TD's in Ohio are wasting their money running ASA Eastern Regional Qualifiers.

You all bashed me for it.. which really I could careless personally :D

Well, here is the FACTS. Go to this link http://www.game-ex.com/vb3/showthread.php?t=33660&page=5

Maybe TD's in Ohio will start running OTHER sanctioned events or at least non sanctioned saving themselves money and teams money now that they don't have to pay fees for a useless qualifier and lower tournament fees to these teams.

This mindset that you have to play ASA to play the best.. has been shot down. You play in certain tournament to play the best. Usually it is the well run events by TD's, sanctioned or unsanctioned.

I'd NEVER steer anyone wrong on purpose with my statements . Even though I am a state director for another association.

ASA/USA Nationals is the BEST tournaments in town. Bottom line.

Tim,

That is exactly why both of my tournaments offer a PAID berth. Anyone can have a berth, but to get it paid for is the ticket. LoL

Doug, I know. I would hope the teams think highly of the gesture of your event and the prizes. Great prizes. That money saved goes a long way for a team.

That's one of the reason I got away from all the other associations and paying fees just to have the grand opportunity to play under their banner;) I drank the Kool-Aid for a year.. but that's all... :lmao:

I took on a state position... hoping to save some of these TD's money on their costs. I've never been about money ( except when I umpire - see last year Beavercreek thread  )

Fun is what is important... great prizes is what is important.

I didn't drink the Kool-Aid when it came to prizes. Granted, orgs running tournaments are trying to support their org. A great thing in my mind.. But, when you are individual running an event.. by goodness give something away besides dust colletors  Something they can use. I think that is what upsets me the most actually.

But, non sanctioned tournaments are risky.. but you can buy site insurance and all. That's not the problem.. getting umpires to work under no insurance and signing waivers of liability is...

So, I figured if I got a position as a state director I could offer TD's a break... I think National office gets $10 per team ( as I don't want my $10.00 dollar cut ) and sanctioning is cheap per team without my cut... then TD's are insured and umpires are sanctioned.

I think it is huge saving actually for TD's. Seems like I am the only one to think so though right now.... :lmao:

I just think the false thinking of you have to play ASA to play the best is a bunch of malarky... If you want to play the best... go to the best run events as that is where the best teams are playing.

I would love to hear someone tell me that if the Lasers or the Doomers from down this way.. would hold a Global event... teams wouldn't come because the best only play ASA ? Imagine that .

I guess I needed to vent... sorry. Just tired of hearing that stuff and get blasted when I try to tell people the truth about the association "game". But, someone else says it four months later and it's the gospel ;)

I guess I am tired.. just tired in trying to give back to the game my daughter loved so much. That's what it has been all about all along anyway.

Making money to stick in my pocket...LOL.. ain't happened yet :)

I guess we all have our choices in life ... and mine is to give back AND play ball in adverse conditions. Parents spend a lot of money to come and all they ask is to give them a chance to play in unstable weather. Nobody can fault a person/org for trying.... if they truly try to do so.

I just hope I have done so. Makes me happy and that's all that matters.

But, I sure do upset a few TD's...LOL ... Ask Admin. Wonder how many complaints they received this year so far and the season hasn't even started....LOL

But, then again, I could care less. I love giving out uniforms, hoodies, jackets and championship rings and sending litttle girls to the Akron Racers game. It's priceless to me and ALWAYS worth the effort.

I'm hijacking my own thread here.

I scheduled an event in Goshen on July 23rd -24th to replace the Cincy World Series. Teams been complaining the last two years about going to Harrison to play.

Well, come on to Goshen.

We are going to have good time. I'm working on trying to give away some really crazy prizes unheard of so far. Yea, better than Uniforms valued at $600.00 dollars that we give away in the Fall.

The tournament is listed in the Global section of the OFC

If this degrades into a tournament announcement the thread will close...
