Somewhere between reality and winning the lottery.
I was sitting there just running through scenarios (both sides of the ball) in my mind and I think I stumped myself. LoL

Runner on 2nd and a runner on 3rd with one out.
Batter hits a deep fly to left, that is easily caught.
Runner on 3rd hold the bag and takes off for home on the catch, runner on 2nd took off on the hit.
Left fielder realizes that the runner needs to tag up on 2nd and throws a strike to 2nd and registers a putout but not before the runner on 3rd crosses the plate.

Does the run count?

My gut says NO since the runner having to tag-up at 2nd is under a force.

Would it have counted if there were two outs going into the play?

Just wasn't sure because of the runner being forced back to 2nd. Thx

The requirement of a runner to tag up on a caught fly ball is not a force out, it is an appeal play.
