Announcement: 2009 Midwest College Showcase

Suburban Girls Softball of NWO is proud to announce it's 1st annual Midwest College Showcase, Saturday June 13th, 2009. Our sole desire is to promote and provide opportunities for players who wish to play in college. This will be in conjunction with the Toledo Tune-up tournament. This will include BOTH a morning skills session and afternoon Spot light games! Other Highlights:
1. SGS has contacted 150, NAIA/JUCO/D-1,2,3 Colleges from the midwest. We have already received 11 commitments in the first week!
2. Toledo Tune-up will offer an "elite" 16/18u division for the tune-up in addition to an open division, this Elite division requires approval of our advisory board.
3. Advisory Board: consists of 2 College coaches/3 H.S. coaches, and 2 Top Travel coaches.
4. Show case has one price of $65.00 for tournament players, $75.00 non-tournament players, includes BOTH, Morning session of skills and data collection of timings etc. [college coaches are returning a survey form to determine the format] AND afternoon spot light games of players playing in preferred positions. Colleges want to see you play in actual game conditions, we feel this is an outstanding value for players.
5. ALL 4 fields we are using will have 200' fences! all games will be at the same quad, with private viewing area for College coaches.
6. College coaches will be given your profile, and all data from the skills session. Coaches will have ALL data before the spot light games!
7. Players will wear their travel uniform for a real All-star game feel.
8. 3 day event to cut down on travel and starting on thursday. We'll play games on friday, in between sessions on saturday [no 16/18 games will be scheduled during the college sessions] and games on sunday.

We will release more information in the coming months, but wanted to release this for players and teams to be aware of. Ohio Wave will be back up there again with all of our teams. This is one stop that we always like to make. This only makes it better, and more worthwhile. Nice job SGS.

thanks Miami and Ohio, we are really excited, and want to really make this a great opportunity for the girl's. The Tune-up was already well received as a tournament, we think this will make it even better, if that's possible. We really appreciate the response from organizations already via email, PLEASE keep them coming, the more we can get the better the event!

UPDATE: thanks to the many who have replied, teams and college coaches. We have our college coaches flyer going out this week, and we are definitely doing the date of june 13th. We have many colleges committed already. We will shortly have a players flyer with sign-up info, and info on the Tune-up format, 10/12/14's there will be no change, still the great 7 games minimum as always! 16/18 format is of course altered, but we think everyone will be pleased. UPDATE: We already have 18 colleges committed on the first day we offered registration! Originally our goal was 30 colleges, we are now hoping for more! We also have had registration for both player portion of the showcase and teams signing up, many requesting to be considered for the elite division.
