Heard a rumor,

Any truth to Victory Sports Park teaming up with "Ohio ASA" Girls Fastpitch softball, and having only "ASA Qualifiers" played tournaments at VicTory fields in the near future for N.E. Ohio??

This can be a good thing. What's wrong with ASA wanting to up the quality of their tournaments. Organizations don't have to santion ASA to hold a tournament. It would be nice to know that in the future, if you attend an ASA event, the fields, umpires and TDs have been vetted as top quality. I wouldn't have one problem at all if ASA said Kettering fields in Dayton are not up to our standards and we will not sanction any more tournaments there.

Of course, there is always the corruption factor with the potential for extortion, kickbacks, special favors, etc. to hold premier events. Before you know it, you could have organizations bidding against each other to hold state tournaments and USA qualifiers. This is girls softball afterall.

If they decide to do that in Northeast Ohio, I hope any kickback they're getting from Victory is enough to offset the loss in revenue they're going to realize when teams like mine don't participate in them ... there are plenty of other options for high quality tourneys ...

We are working very hard to finish this park. This facility was purchased at a Sheriff's sale last November after Ohio Sports Park went out of business.

Ohio Sports Park was in receivership for the entire 2010 season which means the business was operated by the Lorain County Courts in preparation for a Sheriff's Sale.

This facility will be top notch when completed but it will not be completed overnight. We appreciate all of the teams that came to the park this season and supported us in our first season!

We had two great tournaments run by the North Coast Spirit last year: Uncle Stan's & Nailbiter. Both went off great and the Nailbiter had around 50 teams. We were happy to work with the North Coast Spirit and hope to work together for years to come.

We have pictures from these tournaments and the progress made to this facility on our Facebook page. [search Victory Park Ohio and we will pop up]
