ManDan.....just wondering why you would question my opinion of miss Alvelo when you stated that you haven't even seen miss Slatten pitch?

I'm sure any reasonably intelligent coach would happily take any of the mentioned pitchers in this post....lol!

I just feel Slatten combines all of the abilities of what an elite pitcher should have......speed, movement, command of ALL her pitches, composure, leadership and mound presence. Trainer, Alvelo and Eggens are all extremely gifted young pitchers......I expect they will improve even more (thats a scary thought...lol)as they transition from high school to college.

2013 Slatten Hands Down.... Very few pitchers can pitch a shutout and then drive in a double, HR or, big hit to win the game...

2014 Ash Roberts another GMC pitcher...She will be considered one of the best for a lot of the same reasons as Slatten. All around player, Hitting , Pitching and Fielding... Easily another D1 prospect that can lead a HS team deep into the playoffs..

2015/2016? Too early to tell.
Bradlee Holeman is the hardest throwing pitcher I have ever seen. She is currently a sophomore at winthorp university she hit 70 and that is very rare.
Most of the top level pitchers are in the lower to mid 60s.

Ok I'm bored at work ( where are all the sick people?) so I'll throw out this subjective thread lets go by each year of HS graduation and give an opinion on who is the best pitcher . No dads allowed .

2013
2014
2015
2016

that far enough to look down the road , too far probably .. I'll start 2015 I nominate Ms . T Alvelo Bloom-Carroll .. as far as this years class or 2014 ??

Just scanning thru the threads. And at first glance I thought it might be Billy07 had hacked somebody's screen name and was trying to get the inside scoop on the best pitchers again! Then I seen it was H.S. class!:lmao:

There were great pitchers as seniors and I feel there will be a few pitchers mentioned that have not been because they were underclassman... Hard to believe this is right around the corner and it feels like it just ended....Man does time fly

Wow above Avelo she must be something really special. does she throw 70mph like alvelo.

Not sure what Slatten throws but it ain't 70 and though I've seen Alvelo throw a few times it was not 70 either. If she does that's great, but it must be fun for her HS teams catcher to deal with that.

Like most, over the past 5 years I have seen 100s of pitchers at some of the most prestigious events around the country and I personally have seen one (1) hit 70mph in Brandlee Holeman. Not to say that there are not more out there because if one can others can too it is just very rare...

If you look at the NCFA numbers at the Legacy, Sparkler, Pennsbury 2012 there are zero 0 that hit 70mph. Actually only a hand full are over 65. So, if they throw mid to upper 60s they will be in the top 10% velocity wise and there is nothing wrong with that.

Here is some video of Alveo and Slatten if you have not seen them throw... both would make a good choice for best in their age group...

I believe all the above mentioned pitchers in this thread are very good. I have seen all pitchers for the GMC and many of the others during travel ball tournaments....but with all due respect to other pitchers in ohio only one gets my vote as the best......but I too am biased. Lol

This Chey kid must be pretty good. As WWolff knows I have had calls from some pretty Big East Coast Premier level teams asking about her.

I also got a chance to see a 2016 kid pitch against pretty good competition last weekend. She is someone to keep your eye on up there. Jazmin Faulk can pitch, play the field, runs the bases like a slapper and hits with HUGE power. She opened some eyes down here - mine included!!

Chey is a great girl from a wonderful family and I think should be mentioned with this group.
I know she has drawn alot of intrest from some major D1 programs.

I'm sure these are all very talented young ladies, but I question people arguing pitch speeds. It varies so much - practice pitching (no batter) vs. live game pitching and then type of radar gun used and angle. I will agree that speed can be effective when it gets to upper 60's and low 70's. DD rarely threw a fastball in a game bc it wasn't up there.

When my DD was younger speed was much more important plus it was fun to brag about, as I'm sure most pitcher parents would agree. Now that she will start college next fall I am happy to to say that she hits her spots and throws "hard enough" with the right movement.

As most folks know, pitch speeds as displayed on ESPN games are inflated by 3-5 mph. Van Studemann was down in our neck of the woods last month. Talking to a small group of coaches, she wanted to illustrate how overrated speed gun measurements can be. She said that when Kelsi Dunne got to Alabama, she threw 58 (Stalker gun). What she did have was control and spin. It surprised a lot of the coaches that a top ten DI school would bring in someone with speed below 60, but when she described how pinpoint her control was and her spin, it made sense. While her speed increased during her time there, it was not at the expense of control and movement.
