As most folks know, pitch speeds as displayed on ESPN games are inflated by 3-5 mph. Van Studemann was down in our neck of the woods last month. Talking to a small group of coaches, she wanted to illustrate how overrated speed gun measurements can be. She said that when Kelsi Dunne got to Alabama, she threw 58 (Stalker gun). What she did have was control and spin. It surprised a lot of the coaches that a top ten DI school would bring in someone with speed below 60, but when she described how pinpoint her control was and her spin, it made sense. While her speed increased during her time there, it was not at the expense of control and movement.

This Chey kid must be pretty good. As WWolff knows I have had calls from some pretty Big East Coast Premier level teams asking about her.

I also got a chance to see a 2016 kid pitch against pretty good competition last weekend. She is someone to keep your eye on up there. Jazmin Faulk can pitch, play the field, runs the bases like a slapper and hits with HUGE power. She opened some eyes down here - mine included!!

My DD had the pleasure of playing with Jazmin 2 summers ago and my father still talks about "my Jaz". She was always fun to watch pitch, run, hit, and field. That girl is good all around and is well-grounded. She is definitely a great kid who will be going places! It's so great to see her get some recognition on here!

Tell you what, Lauren Dietrick who plays for Lasers and Perry High School is a freshman pitcher who brings it. Will be a force for the next 4 years!

everyone is entitled to their opinions on who is good in what class- that is what is nice about this forum- and i kind of like reading who plays for what team and what school that way you can follow them in the newspapers and what not- makes it more fun, ya know?

2015 - Taryn and Tara - two very different pitchers but each very successfu l - 2015 is loaded with talent - McCombs, Geno and others too!

Good news is that all of these girls have or will quickly have a great college offer - good for them and good for Ohio.

anderson and alvelo both have their teams in the top ten .. Alvelo's is at Number 1 in d3 and Anderson's an underated 6 or 7th in d3 .
