It is a shame how and what things have become in youth anything, not just sports.
During a college visit this fall, this same exact topic was discussed with my daughter by a college professor. With considering entering the education field and possibly future coach as well, it is certainly a problem to consider as it is a growing challenge to be faced that continues to get worse. Amazing.......really in college too? Parents still don't know when to let go and let the kids learn to grow and become their own person. I'm sure if you asked the child (or young adult), "do you want mommy or daddy to talk to your professor or coach about why your not succeeding or starting?" I would think their answer would (or at least should be) ABSOLUTELY NOT, how embarrassing !!
I was very happy that the professor brought this to her attention. She loves kids and want to help, guide and teach, but as the professor said, those are all absolutely great attributes of being an educator, but with great things also comes not so nice experiences and challenges (as is the case in all jobs). It gave her something to think about, not just the smiling little student who thinks her teacher is the greatest, lol.
One thing......with all the helicopter these days, wet weather conditions should never be a problem.
