If any coach has a player (or a player's family) who is having a hard time financially this Christmas season and could use a softball gift, please message me (or message Stay in Softball on here and Meg will get the message). Stay in Softball has a few new bats (not the big name brands - some composite and some aluminum) that we would love to send out to a player who needs them. We can also spare some t shirts and gift bags for girls who don't need a bat.
Some good news on our equipment program, we just got a donation of a new bat that we were able to give last week (thanks to Nick and Riley Frizell and their friends at Core Softball) to a travel player whose mother lost her job several months ago. We also just packed up two sets of catcher's gear to go out to a community rec team in PA.
We are also almost at capacity at the small storage unit we have (it was necessary so we could reclaim our garage). We have an abundance of helmets and bat/equipment bags that take up a lot of space but we also have a good collection of gloves and bats. We also have catching equipment (more on the small and large ends size-wise for the leg protectors but plenty of chest pads in every size), some facemasks (more of the plastic ones, running low on the nice metal ones), some cleats, and about 40 pairs of softball pants. If you know of any players (or low income area teams) who need used equipment, please refer them to us so we can help them out. We have already been in touch with Cleveland CYO and will be helping them in the spring with teams that need equipment and will most likely be doing a pre-season free clinic too.
Also, if you are on Facebook and haven't checked out our page, please do as we just posted something yesterday about a player who lost her arm in an accident. Her league is asking players from all over the US to send get well cards to cheer the player up.
