Does your Team have a policy about cell phone use?

It seems each year I have to go and revise the Teams Handbook. You know! The little book with all the Do's and Do Not's, for the members of the team.
I remember a couple of incidents last year, there was even this one player who had her Cell Phone in in her back pocket while playing the field. That made the game very interesting.;&

FASTPITCH! Anything else, And you're playing to SLOW!

My experience is that players don't pay much attention to the Team handbook, that tends to be more for parents. However they do understand that bringing their cell phones into the dugout costs playing time. In between games we can care less but during warm-ups and especially in the dugouts cell phones are not allowed. I have found that they only need it to happen once to get the point.

Before pre game warm ups all cell phones are turned off and put away, after the game is over and we have talked about the game, when we play next or practice next etc etc etc. Then and only then are they allowed to turn phones back on. We have not had any problems with this policy. We have found that if you print off your rules and expectations the girls will meet your expectations as long as they know what they are.

Hubby coaches a fall team made up of travel ball girls we've gotten to know from all over Ohio & winter a team for our high school. In his initial e-mail to parents & players he clearly states that cell phones are not permitted to be out/checked while the girls are there to play ball. If he sees a cell phone it will be given to the parents and the player will sit the bench the rest of the game. That way everyone knows the rules & consequences. We only had 1 issue and it was with OUR daughter. Followed through with the rules AND told her texting would be blocked if it happened again.

not yet. I'd like to think the 10u's are still innocent to have the cell phone and actually listen to the coaching staff more than the phone... no boy issues or drama...yet!

My older DD does on her team. Pretty standard these days.
