I know that these questions come up on here all the time, but...

Is a HS player released from HS ball after their last game? If not when? Do they need a written release or are they just released automatically?

if you are asking about the transition from HS ball to travel - there is no need for a "release letter" of any kind - they are automatically released after the last post season game is complete!!

Not quite sure that megasportsmom's answer is technically correct, as I remember threads on OFC and the Huddle hypothesizing that a high school coach could still call for games after getting knocked out of the post-season tournament. As a practical matter, however, I've never heard of a coach not releasing players after tournament play. To my knowledge, no high school coach provides a written release, so oral releases must be effective.

OR if they are already eliminated from the tournament they become eligible after their last regular season game. Lots of teams eliminated this week but still have to play regularly scheduled games.

The old cliche was when they handed their uniforms in. Best answer I think is each school has their own policy.

cgs is correct. It is an oral release when we tell them we no longer require them to play. This year is somewhat strange in that we have make up games because of rain, to determine who wins the conference. So Just because you lost in tournament play doesn't mean your high school season is over. Make sure you coach tells you before you make any plans.
