The low temps can be playable in the 32's.......It is the wind chill factor that can cause the real problems. With windchill factor of 30 and under a safety issue pops up.
The snowball tournament we use to play at Berliner many years ago was interesting and very wet and cold. Just like in The Christmas Story, if you fell down you needed two people to get you back up.

I remember playing in Montana back in 89-90 during a May snowstorm. We played with a white softball and from the outfield I could not see the ball. Very fun stuff....

Played in some March Of Dimes events called Snow Bowls and yes it was cold.. but fun and raised a lot of money.

One year, thinking it was 1995.. it snowed in Southern Ohio on Halloween night. I was umpiring in Harrison (men's) and it was the last night of the Fall leagues and nobody wanted to come back the next week.... so I umpired 4 games in the snow with balls we had to spray paint orange to see. By the last game.. there was 5 inches of snow and we was playing 6 outfielders on each team so we could get outs.. so we could go home.
