How far is too far?

Just a thought... If you have to ask how far is too far...it may be too far for you.

my wife and I spent time at different tournaments for 3 summers and it really is hard. But we asked our daughters if they wanted to playball in college to which they said yes. Since they did their part in school we awarded them with their wishes. Sacrifices are given and taken by everyone but it's well worth it. We spent fall wearing different uniforms every weekend. Friday was high school football for Kirtland (son), Saturday was Slippery Rock gears and Sunday were PITT gears...we travel more now than we did during travel ball.

My DD is in the same boat. How committed is your daughter to softball?
This year we are driving 1:20 to her practices and scrimmages, more for tournaments and a group hitting league. We had a long talk about what kinds of sacrifices she would need to make before the first try-out, on how committed she could be, and how much softball would play into her future plans.
She has given up time with friends, parties, sleepovers, and some of her extra-curricula activities to make this work. Really, it was her decision as much as it was mine. If she had been hesitant about giving up fun with friends, playing would not have been worth the drive.
My daughter got the right group of girls for a team and she feels like one of the gang now. It's never a guarantee that your DD will feel like she fits in, but look at the team's chemistry. If they are quick to welcome her and are interested in her from the start she will have a better chance. Because they live in a big city, and we do not, makes for some interesting discussions among the girls.
I wish you luck in whatever decision you make.
