How many games will your travel team play this year?

Start in the fall, count indoor tournaments, friendlies, and the entire spring / summer season.

I thought we played a lot till I posted the same question on a national message board.

Wow thats a lot, too many. Girls need a break to rest their bodys, focus on training and perfecting their skill, especially pitchers.

What I found interesting was when I posed the question on a national board, some of the respondants (granted more southern and western states) played well over 100 (up to 160 games) games. No one voiced any concerns about too many games.

For us...............

Fall tournaments - two 4 game gurantee (8 plus)
Fall Friendly - 3 games

Winter tournaments - two 4 game gurantee (8 plus)

No spring games (older team, OHSAA rules)

Summer tournaments - Wont know til more dates come out. Looking at 7 summer tournaments, then off to Nationals in Tennessee.

Im guessing around the 70 mark.

I am not sure what to say. My daughter plays VB, BB, and Softball.

I do not really disagree about the training. The only thing I can say is that the Fall league and CYO are not very tough. More fun than anything. And the summer league is handled like a practice. It is only the tournaments that tend to have any intensity. But I agree it is a bit much. We may have to look at her schedule.

It does not seem like that many. And she actually will only play about 80-85 of those games. In the Fall she will miss some for VB. And I think she may miss some CYO for Travel (it is always dicey). And we spend a ton of time working on hitting and fielding.

Interesting once you put it on paper. I was guessing 60-65. I just wrote it all down to get an idea.

Funny because she is a 12U. My 10U we just shut down because she gets so intense, we actually would not let her play in a Fall Ball league. While my 12U is not always on. She seems to be able to handle the schedule without much fuss. While the younger one has burn out written all over her. A very type A person.

So I will say that it depends on the girl. My older one is a good player and a great teammate. While my younger is a Great player and probably a hard teammate. The younger one is very focused on winning. If she loses it is a hard night. So we have to keep an eye on how much competition she gets to have.
