NSA NSA Rain Schedule

terrible tournament ?>:( ?The TD, NSA, and Teal Town stinks. Quit blaming the rain because that's obliviously not the problem. I spent a lot of money for one day of ball!

Girls played great for starting at 7am, but lost a 2 -2 tie 50 min drop dead. We were up 5-2 but referred to last inning, which was 2-2. NO ITB we lost based on girls on base runners! ?;D What a joke! ?Maybe we should just flip a coin for a the win next time.

I agree , terrible tourney. If you even want to call it that. Our team won a couple but it was about the most hollow victory a team can get. 50 min time limit and yet the finals are scheduled for 3pm ?????? PLAY THE GAME . ASA WAS NO TIME FROM START TO FINISH THRU THE ENTIRE TOURNERY LAST WEEK , even after cancelling games on friday. Sat was the worst , delaying because there either not enough people to work the fields or ??? who knows what ? It was an entire cluster. MD

N$A $tate, what a joke, not for profit? 40k in entry fees, $15 weekend pass, $5 a day gate, and a 3 person "volunteer field crew". I know there was a young man there that takes care of fields for a living, offered his services and was told "NO THANKS". Cancelled games means............MORE MONEY! If want to host a tournament of this size please pay 10 people $200 for the weekend to keep the fields ready. NO EFFORT MADE To play on Saturday, none. When it quit raining you could have put some diamond dry down to soak up the moisture, probably would have been playing by 3pm Saturday, but require effort.
No communication, NSA or TD make a decision! Sad to see teams get 2 games, 50 minute drop dead, no 50 drop dead revert back to last inning, and then go home.

Well probably saved enough umpire fees to pay for the temp fences!

Wow dissapointing for a "State Tournament"!

We have nobody to blame but ourselves. Keep supporting these types of tournaments and they will keep giving you a weak effort.

It's obvious that N$A is only in this for the money. They make you play this crappy event because you must play it in order to participate in the worlds series hat they will host in Columbus. They treat you like you should be happy that they are there to abuse you, and oh by the way you should like it.

We do not attend NSA events because it has become obvious that they are not in this for the right reasons. None of them are perfect but at least some of the others have a consistant level of standards that they live up to. NSA has become a joke and to allow this type of nonsense to take place in Cincy is evidence enough of that.

In one word it was "disappointing?... and I support the majority of comments.
However, I would like to point out and give some credit to the Cincinnati Doom folks...

In all the chaos late Saturday afternoon The 10U's were told they would not play until Sunday morning... The kids were way to anxious and stir crazy... They needed field time. The Cincinnati Doom coaches stepped up. They had access to fields 10 miles away.... They offered not only the fields... They dragged them and lined them. By 5pm we had to scrimmages going a number of the 10U teams (who were in shouting distance during the chaos) joined in. Here is the kicker.... The Doom folks knew it was not probable to round up all their players but they organized this anyway... Thus, they themselves couldn?t scrimmage, but spent all the time and energy for the other 4 or 5 teams that wanted to play.

Hats off to a great organization and a few folks who recognized? It?s for the girls! :)

On behalf of all the teams that participated...Thanks

I ask everyone's opinion, please. Would it be easier to have a state tournament involving just two age groups per weekend versus ALL on the same weekend ? Or if ALL is the same weekend, then give different locations different age groups.
My personal opinion is one age group per city. Columbus, Pickerington, Tealtown, etc.... as they have been with NSA for so long and deserve the games before Wilmington or Goshen (my sites).

Of course, one age group in the North as well. Then the following year, revolve the location age groups and keep the locations. Year after year.

I really would like to hear your opinions on that issue, please.

Hey Quake;

One or two age groups per weekend depending on entry history etc....Great idea.....as far as this past weekend is concerned: Drop dead means drop dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you play on Sunday: When I am the visitng team and have a lead I don't want to tell my girls to start taking outs in order to "Beat the Clock". Finish the inning !!!!!!!!!! ?By the way beat the clock ?was a very bad 70's game show.

Hey the best part of this tournament was that I had to drive past Kings Island on the way home. And yes we stopped and played hard. Next on the agenda is the Stingray tourney........no rain please.

I was just wondering aloud if a better fit would be to separate the age divisions in different cities where TD's could prepare for rain delays without the worry of a full boat of age divisions versus one or two.

I think the people of OFC give great opinions :)

Just someone needs to listen to them. ;)

always heard bad things about nsa states, and now i know our team will never go back. 50 minute drop dead in the pool play fine, why not international tie break in elimination. field crew what a joke i seen three guys working on friday and three guys working on saturday morning. only did nsa because nationals are in columbus. from now on we will stick with usssa or asa.

Can always play NAFA, North American Fastpitch Association. go to www.playnafa.com for more details. I heard they have a new state director in OHio and one in Kentucky as well. I also heard that the 2009 Eastern Regional will be in Ohio that will bring in teams from 7 other states.

Seems to be a group of people that ran USSSA and ASA. Team sanctioning is cheaper at 30.00 and TD's like it because the fees are less to them as well. It's not all about the money.

Been waiting on their website to announce the New Ohio State Director for NAFA as well as the Kentucky person, as well.

Someone let me know when you see it online. Thanks.

i agree with everyone so far but has anyone looked at getting any money back yet? Maybe enough calls to the N$A headquarters would make a difference. I am calling. Anyone know how much the umps made for 3 inning games? I bet the ump fee was not the usual $30 per ump. I know the World tourney does not pay that much for umps. N$A just got paid big

Cheap parks pay $30.00 for plate - $25.00 for field

Better parks pay $35.00 for plate - $30 for the field

Stupid Quakerman in Wilmington pays $40.00 for plate and $35.00 for the field in 1:15 game limits (no new innings after 1:15) because he has to have them drive in from the big cities and Quakerman tries to get the best of the best. :'(

We went to PONY national last year and I was pleasantly surprised at what a well managed and nice event they ran. They even had a team from Russia there to play in the tournament. Competition was good, heavily weighted to the East into Ohio I would say (NJ, Mass, CT, PA, etc). There are a lot of nice PONY tournaments in Ohio.

We've also been to a USSSA national in St Louis and that was really horrible. That's been awhile back, so maybe they've improved. The one we attended had EIGHT teams entered and a very strict no food, no cooler even-in-the-parking lot policy.

We've actually enjoyed the NSA Nationals we've been to as well. It's just the NSA State in Ohio that is consistently a problem. The other NSA events we've been to have been fine.

ASA is absolutely the best if you are good enough to go.

You also need to be a great sleuth to find out where and when the ASA qualifiers will be held, unless a standup organizer such as Mr. Beckham advertises in lieu of what should be clear communications from the ASA. :-?

Maybe that is why there are only eight teams in 16U at the Ashland regional this weekend...

I too would like to commend the Cincy Doom folks for giving our 10U team a chance to play on Saturday... Was very dissapointed in the tournament, but these folks did shine some light on an other dreary weekend. A tournament that was obviously ran for the $$$, it was nice to see some folks actually do something for the girls over the weekend. Kudos to the Cincy Doom and their staff.
