Can you enter a sub, take her out of the game and then re-enter her as long as it is in the same batting order position? I was thinking that it was a revised rule for Ohio high school this year.

It's not a revised rule for this year- it's been that way for a long time. This is a basic softball rule and an umpire should have a handle on it.

The thing I see get mixed up a lot is the rule for high school baseball, where only the starters have re-entry rights, but subs do not. Many areas train their high school baseball and softball umpires in a single class, and many umpires work both sports. There are lots of rule differences between the two and if you're working both sports you really have to make an extra effort to keep them straight.

This is a bad enough rule misinterpretation- an umpire refusing to let a team make a perfectly legal substitution- that your coach or school A.D. should probably follow up with the umpire assigner for your area. Assigners want their umpires making the right rulings and will often contact the umpire to inform him he has it wrong.
