The sanctioning bodies (NSA, ASA, etc) only allow girls to appear on a single roster at any given time. If you move from one team to another, and I believe a move between age groups within an organization would count as a move, then that girl is effectively locked into that new roster.

I think PONY only allows one roster move within a season - not sure about the other sanctioning bodies.

If you fill out the right papers, you could effectively be leaving your current team for the balance of the season.

sideliner, i was under the impression that you could sub for other teams if your coach gave you permission and were listed as a sub on the roster turned infor the team that you were subbing for.

No subs are allowed from another team. A player may start on an NSA roster and be released one time in that year and only one time. If you are playing a NON-qualifying tournament then there would be no problems

The point would be that in a non-qualifier tourney, the rosters would go no further than a file folder kept by the tournament organizer, and be used primarily to check age eligibility.

If it is a qualifying tournament - for any sanctioning body - you need to observe transfer rules. Generally, the penalty is that the girl is ineligible for the balance of that year and the next year in that particular sanctioning body, so the girl could become damaged goods to most travel teams that play across multiple sanctions.
