Many people beleive in spreading out the weaker players in the line up so its not one , two , three outs in a given inning. ? We have found putting a couple good hitter in the last two spots of the order has it's rewards also. ?It's like starting at the top of the order in the 8 and 9 hole. ?There are many opinions on this, that is just one. ?Relax a little, i'm SURE your not the only one with this problem in your leauge.

Re:  BATTING ORDER

Teach them to bunt. It is relatively easy to teach bunting, and it doesn't take great fundamentals to get it accomplished. Before long the girls will start putting the ball in play, and building confidence at the plate with every at bat. It will also help improve their hand, eye coordination, which is essential in learning how to hit. You will be able to scatter them throughout your lineup, which will help move runners into better scoring positions, for your better hitters, and keep you from having to put all of them at the bottom of the lineup. I've tried this in my earlier years of rec. ball, with much success. Good Luck and have patience!!!

I agree, spread them out and give your better hitters a chance to score. At 12u, especially in rec ball, you will have plenty of chances to move runners with each pitch. You want to get your better hitters to the plate as much as possible, so don't stack them at the bottom where they'll get less at-bats.

Re:  BATTING ORDER

Lady_Knights is probably right, teach them to bunt and give them some confidence, remember they aren't bad because they want to be bad, be patience with them don't expect to much. they will improve. anyway the lineup.the way I try to do it is I rate the hitting ability
of the players from A to D A being the best. then I take the best four and put the best as number 3 batter, the second best at number four the third best at two and fourth best at number one. with your best hitter batting third she is guaranteed to bat the first inning and there is a better chance she will bat the last inning. and do not let an A batter be followed by a D batter, no more then two letters, in other words A is followed by a C batter or better.

I DIDNT MEAN BAD, BUT IT SEEMS LIKE THEY ARE AFRAID OF THE BALL AND ARE LIKE STATUES, IS THERE A WAY TO BREAK THAT FEAR OF THE BALL AND TO SWING HARDER? ?ANOTHER THING HOW DO YOU TEACH SLIDING, I RELIZE THIS IS THE GIRLS (SOME) FIRST YR, BUT THEY REFUSE TO SLIDE. (12U) THIS IS MY FIRST YEAR AS A HEAD COACH ALSO, I HOPE YOU DONT THINK IAM A IDIOT! LOL THX. ;D

Re:  BATTING ORDER

Teach them the figure 4 slide using blankets to slide on with a folded towel for a base. Hitting soft toss and off a tee will help them learn how to swing and make them fun,by seeing who's ball goes the farthest, set up buckets and see if any can hit them..

I agree you should teach them to bunt and sprinkle them through the lineup. I also think your best hitters should be grouped together, not spread out. This will hopefully give you innings were you score two or three runs. Then you can teach them to play good defense and the bottom of the lineup will surprise you sometimes. You can put a large piece of cardboard down in front of home plate. Line the girls up at third and demonstrate the correct way to slide. This takes a lot of the fear out of it and usually someone thinks its fun and the others will want to do it. Good luck as a new coach you'll need it. ;D
