Is there any sort of ASA, NSA or Pony Rule that restricts the type of headband a player wears?

I'm under the impression that it doesn't matter unless you pitch. Pitchers can't where the real sparkly ones.

I can quote the USSSA rule for you which tends to be based on what Federation (HS) follows: Caps, visors, and headbands may be mixed. If worn, a headband must be one piece, and a single solid color.

We don't play USSSA...just the others listed. But thanks for the info. :)

She has never had a umpire say anything. One did...jokingly this fall but he was just kidding.

In my experience, depends on the umpires (and/or opposing coaches) far more than the sanctioning body. DD (pitcher) likes a sparkly headband and most of the time nobody says a thing about it. Occasionally, she is told to not wear it. This has held true from NSA, ASA, USSSA, PONY, HS, and now D3 college.

Ever hear of a pitcher not being allowed to wear a certain pair of sunglasses? I haven't, I was just wondering, because my DD wears a pair that have multi colored/reflective lens. And with the sparkly headband. LOL

There was a posting a while back about sunglasses. The rule of thumb that I have seen umpires use is. If they feel it is distracting to the batters. DD was pitching her fourth game on a sunday. She had a black hair tie (rubberband) on her left wrist (glove hand). The umpire stoped the second inning made her remove it and told both benches any jewelry and the players would be ejected. He got a wild bur but it was not one sided. You seen girls on both sides removing hoops, hair ties and checking eachother over. My guess someone on one side or the other was complaining and he got fed up. I asked at the end of the game. He said if it could distract, or help gain an advantage it must be removed.

Yes, my DD had to remove sunglasses in a game, because they had mirrored lens'??? The umpire can rule on just about anything the pitcher is wearing? Certain things are stated that they cant wear, but anything else CAN be determined by the umpire that it is distracting and so umpire may ask them to remove?

Yeah just like a shiny headband on a cloudy day that was made to the H.S. ump in to have our pitcher remove it halfway into the game. Did I say it was cloudy?? Yeah pretty bush league, cause they weren't hitting it anyway.... That made a whole mess of a difference I must say, as our pitcher just beared down and focused even more in getting them out in which she did....

So the penalty would be to ask the player to remove it correct?
