CHICKASHA, Okla.- The No. 1 University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (29-0 16-0 SAC) improved their win streak to 36 games, as they tossed a pair of shutouts against Oklahoma Panhandle State University (15-13, 6-10 SAC) on Wednesday evening. The Drovers 36 game win streak is currently the longest win streak in college softball, at any level (NCAA DI, DII, DIII, NJCAA DI, DII, and NAIA). The top ranked team cruised to an 8-0, no-hit victory in the first game of the double-header, followed by a 1-0 win in the series finale.

GAME 1 -

The Drovers scored first as they pushed across one run in the bottom of the first inning. The game remained 1-0 until the bottom of the fourth when USAO added one more run. The defending champs scored once in the fifth inning, and five runs in the bottom of the sixth, forcing the game to end due to the run-rule.

Emily Cerny (SO/Newcastle, OK) was the star once again, throwing her second no-hitter of the season. The sophomore pitcher has won three consecutive SAC Pitcher of the Week awards and she was awarded the NAIA National Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. Cerny went all 6 innings, allowing no runs or hits, and she stuck out 12 batters. So far this week, Cerny has pitched 13 scoreless innings and has struck out 29 batters in that short time frame. The reigning NAIA Pitcher of the Year is currently 10-0 with a 0.47 ERA, and she has struck out 114 batters so far this season. The Drovers have not allowed zero runs in her last 16 innings pitched.

Kristen Prieto (JR/Moore, OK) powered the Drovers offense, going 2-4 with a 2-run homer in the sixth inning. Randa Hatter (JR/Stratford, Okla.) finished 2-3 with a double, while Karlie Velasco (SR/Del City, OK) went 2-4 with a run scored and a RBI. Keely Kingsley (SR/Oklahoma City, OK) provided a hit, 2 runs scored, and a pair of RBI's in the opening game of the double-header. Karmyn Pearn (SO/Newcastle, OK) and Tarah Madron (JR/Konawa, OK) each concluded with one hit and one RBI each. Emily Cerny helped her own cause by going 1-2 with a double and a run scored. Destinie Lookout (SR/Oklahoma City, OK) went 1-4 as USAO picked up their thirty-fifth straight win in stellar fashion.

GAME 2 -

Pitching stole the show once more in the series finale. The Drovers scored the only run of the game on a solo-homerun hit by Kristen Prieto in the bottom of the first inning. Prieto finished the game 2-3, and she now leads USAO in batting average (.529), homeruns (10), and runs batted in (48).

Lyndie Ervin (FR/Washington, OK) pitched all seven innings in the shutout victory, allowing just 3 hits as she struck out a trio of batters. The freshman improved her record to a perfect 6-0, and lowered her ERA to 2.81 through 42.1 innings of work.

Randa Hatter, Darci Chester (SO/Collinsville, OK), and Dakota Clouse (SR/Blancahard, OK) each contributed one hit a piece in the win.

The top ranked Drovers will be back in action on Friday, March 29, when they host Central Christian College at 5 and 7 PM at Bill Smith Ballpark.
