[Softball] No. 1 Drovers Toss Two Shutouts to Extend Win Streak to THIRTY

BETHANY, Okla.- The top ranked University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (23-0, 10 SAC) improved their win streak to THIRTY straight games as they swept the double-header at Southwestern Christian University (7-13, 3-7 SAC). The Drovers took game one by a final score of 7-0, and followed that up with a 10-0 shutout win in game two.

GAME 1-

No. 1 USAO opened the scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. The Drovers extended their lead to 5-0 in the third inning with a 4-run rally. They once again extended the lead with one run in the fourth and fifth innings.

The reigning SAC Pitcher of the Week, Emily Cerny (SO/Newcastle, OK), was lights out once more as she threw a one-hit, complete game shutout. Cerny struck out 17 batters and only allowed two free passes as she improved her record to 7-0. The dominant sophomore lowered her earned run average to 0.54 and she has struck out 72 batters in only 39 innings pitched.

Destinie Lookout (SR/Oklahoma City, OK) kept swinging a hot bat as she finished 3-4 with a pair of runs, a homerun, and 2 runs batted in. Karmyn Pearn (SO/Newcastle, OK) went 2-3 with a run and a double. Kristen Prieto (JR/Moore, OK) contributed a 1-2 performance that included a run scored, a homer, and 2 RBI's. Dakota Clouse (SR/Blancahard, OK) and Keely Kingsly (SR/Oklahoma City, OK) each finished the win with a couple of hits. Karlie Velasco (SR/Del City, OK), Randa Hatter (JR/Stratford, Okla.), and Emily Cerny each had one hit a piece.

GAME 2-

USAO struck first with a pair of runs in the top of the third inning, followed by one run scored in each of the next two innings. With the score 4-0, the Drover bats caught fire as the defending national champs put 6 runs on the board. The Eagles failed to score in the bottom of the sixth, giving the Drovers their thirtieth straight win.

Jordan Weese (FR/Burns Flat, OK) threw 6 shutout innings to pick up her second win of the season. The Drovers' pitching staff has now delivered EIGHT shutouts through the first twenty-three games of the season.

Karlie Velasco led the USAO offense with a 2-4 performance that included 4 RBI's. Keely Kingsly picked up a pair of hits in four at bats, and she added a pair of runs and a couple RBI's. Darci Chester (SO/Collinsville, OK) finished the win 1-4 with 2 RBI's, while Tarah Madron (JR/Konawa, OK) drove in a pair of runs in two at bats. Alyson Clemence (SO/Washington, OK) concluded with a 2-3 performance that included 2 runs scored, while Dakota Clouse also went 2-3 with a run scored. Kindle Nelms (SO/Newcastle, OK) was a perfect 1-1 with a run scored in the win.

The No. 1 Drovers will hit the road and head to Texas to face Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth at 2 and 4 PM on Friday, March 22. USAO will face SAGU for a double-header in Waxahachie, Texas the following day at 12 and 2 PM.
