What were the scores of the semi-final games? Lasers Black vs Evolution and Ohio Ice vs Stingrays

For an 11u team I think the ICE done very well. As for the old umpire, I thought the knees were the first thing to go. Maybe not.

Lasers 9-0 over Evolution in semis. Also I think Ice played Stingrays in quarters, Ice played Roadrunners in semis - and it appeared to be a real good game looking on from the other field.

Pgh Lady Roadrunners did play the ICE in semis. Solid Ice team. We beat them in Round Robin but maybe entered the game on Sunday feeling a little too confident. Our girls played sloppy and the ICE players came out hitting like they were on fire. They racked up 5 runs in the first inning and the LRR never recovered. Lessons learned. All in all, it was a good experience - this team's first experience at Spano. Wished there had been two umpires at least in the semi's (NOT that it would have influenced the outcome) but there were some crazy close plays at first that the behind the plate ump just couldn't get out fast enough to judge and the girls leaving the bases way early just weren't being called. When we questioned it once the response was, "can't call what I can't see. I can't watch base runners and the ball coming in at the same time." OUCH - that says something. But, as I said, it wouldn't have made a big difference in the outcome of that game but I know in our game v. the Vipers there were some really bad judgement calls on both sides. Bottom line - we got 7 exciting games in the dirt, our girls had a blast staying in a hotel and bonding, the coaches got a good idea of what we need to work on before "real ball" starts, and the parents enjoyed a few cold ones in the hotel lobby. That's not too bad for the price we paid.

TBU what is really on your mind? First post ever, I doubt it. From what I saw Sunday there was some upset Stingray people after the loss. I hope you addressed the coach before you started this post.

Wshflthinking - I couldn't agree more.
TBU - Are you trying to call out a 12 year old? Seriously?

WOW - I agree 100% with X-Static, Wshflthinking, & TANGY-MIKE...Where is this going? This was an indoor tournament to findout where you're at now and what you need to do before the actual season gets started. Everyone wants to win or they wouldn't be playing at this level. I saw this 12 YEAR OLD pitch twice last weekend and she did a great job. (She kept her team in a postion to win the game) Stingrays have a great little team and she's going to be a big part of their success this season. X-Static: Sorry you even have to answer these questions! Good luck this season.

X-Static -Your are an Awesome person and I am thankful for that.

My experience at the Spano Dome was a learning experience as a parent. I had the pleasure of watching some great 12U teams play such as the Lasers Black-Congradulations!, the Ice 11U - Awesome hitters, Explosion- enjoyed sitting with parents of the team and the Pittsburg Pride-yellow, black and white and the awesome Ohio Stingrays. I hope we get to see you all in near the future. I am a fan of Softball, but first and foremost I am a fan of community and connection with people. As for me and my family we are investing a lot of time, money and hard work into our DD so she can play a game that she passionately loves and I expect great things to come out of this investment. First and foremost it would be for her to learn the art of Relationship,Leadership, Competition, Self Disipline and Acceptance. There is more to Softball than pleasing ones self ego. I feel that worring about what should have been and could have been are all in vain. X-static, Viper coach and Mike, you guys seem to get it. This is not just about win or lose ( we all want to win) It's about networking and building these young ladies up to help them into the future of softball after life. This is why I'm here and plan to stick to the root of my "investment" otherwise In the future I will not have only wasted a lot of time and money I risk losing a vital element needed for my DDs future.

p.s. TBU I will keep you in my prayers.

Why do people insist on trying to start sh** about fastpitch softball? Why can't we enjoy watching these athletes play and improve every game? The 12U Stingrays have girls on their team that have better fundamentals than some players on my college baseball team. And I would trust these girls to make the big play more than I would have trusted some of my teammates. I wasn't at Spano, but I know that the coaching staff puts their heart and soul into that team. They do everything they can to put those girls into a position to win. And the players give everything they can. If you want to throw stones at 12 year olds, go back to the cave you came from.

I would like to add this. I had the opportunity to meet X-Static, his wife and daughter. Let me just say this, it was a pleasure. He's a great guy and a part of a great family. His daughter was a very impressive young lady, and that's not even considering what kind of player she is. It was my pleasure to finally meet them all.

I also got to see Brian and some of the others from the Stingrays that I had met during tryouts last season. I can safely say this about the group leading that team. Quality. Bottom line, is quality people. I can't comment on coaching ability or softball knowledge, because my experience with them is very limited, but let me just share a quick story about how quality of a guy Brian is. I met Brian thru OFC two years ago just before tryouts. My dd was trying out for his 11U Stringrays along with a few other teams. After the tryout Brian offered us a spot, but we still had a couple more tryouts. He said no problem. Well, long story short, we picked a different team. (Which ended up being the worst decision we've made thus far in travel softball!!) Brian was really understanding, and wished us well. Since then, Brian has been just a great guy. He has always taken opportunities to promote my daughter, and it's always been a pleasure to see him and he always seems truly happy to see us. I can't say that about the team we ended with. We saw one of my dd's coaches from last year at Spano this weekend and she went out of her way to ignore us! :( Anyway, I don't know what people are trying to get started on this thread, but from what I saw, the 12U Stingrays are a bunch of excellent players and quality men running this team. I was very impressed with everyone from that team this weekend. Stingrays, it was fun seeing you this weekend, and we're looking forward to seeing you all summer. Scoob...it was our pleasure!!

I saw the Stingrays in their Friday night game at Spano and thought they were a great team. Stud pitcher, good fielding, and solid hitting from top to bottom. Should be a formidable team this year. Best of luck to them. ;)
