Muaaahahahahahaaaa..........I'm going for it!
Feet slightly wider than hips.....check!
Hands relaxed and above strike zone......check!
Britt seems to be very upright in her stance but doesn't sink into attack mode until the pitcher is in the windup so.......check!
Say what??? Britt actually lifts her rear heel off the ground to start her negative move! I'm sure this also aids in timing. Then she gives us a mini-Yaz forward step between 4 and 5 inches to initiate her positive linear move/weight shift to toe touch, her hands staying back to load. As soon as the front heel starts the move towards plant her hips start rotating and she initiates her forward swing......check!
At the start of the actual swing Britt's rear elbow slots very quickly, literally flirting with bat drag. My guess is this also aligns her knock knock knuckles because the front arm/hand remains positive and her grip is beautifully relaxed......check!
Here's what I really like about Britt's swing:
Some people might think that her hands/swing lags a bit compared to her forward step. Britt steps with the pitcher. Britt starts her step before the pitch is in flight. Folks, this is key. Keeping her hands back and front shoulder closed gets her coiled, and as soon as the pitcher releases the ball Britt is ready to uncoil and pounce all over the ball. At first I thought she slammed her front elbow into her body at this point but after closer analysis it is an optical illusion because she does clear the rib cage and comes to full extension. Other key points I love about this swing are that she hits the ball well out in front and she gets her weight (leans) into the plate/hitting zone during the positive move and rotation. Britt is leaving nothing behind.....she is grippin' it and rippin' it!............check!
At contact, the hands are above and behind the barrel of the bat.....check!
Rear femur pointing straight down indicating complete hip rotation and up on rear toe......check!
Front leg straight but not locked.....check!
Swing finishes high above shoulder.......check!
BD, Britt has a great swing. If I had to nit-pick I would like to see another 2 inches on her forward step, thus giving her a stronger load, but hey.....if it ain't broke.........
