Watching the girls play for the love of the game. Unlike pro. sports. Seeing my dd find confidence in herself and believe in her team. Priceless.

Great stuff Sad. There are times when I feel pity for the parents who don't think they have the time to get involved like that. There is so much they're missing. When I coached my oldest dd's teams, I wished I could have adopted them all.

Isn't that the truth! I have coached in the past and still do only as an assistant. I've enjoyed every minute of it not only with my DD's but each member of the team, even if they were little pains in the *** at times.
Some of which I've coached in the past, I have umpired in their H.S. years. They still appreciate the time I took to work with them as their coach, a lot have graduated H.S. grown up and gone on with their adult lives. But I still have the memories and pictures of those past teams. What saddens me the most is that we all grow older each day, and what was once a young team will fade away.

I love watching the growing process as they go from who they were as children, trying themselves against challenges and seeing how that helps them become the people the adults they were meant to be.

Seeing them start out as coach pitch or tee ball sitting on the bench with their helmets on in batting order sequence, all the way through the years to where they are now young mature women who will be the leaders of tomorrow. It's even better when they decide to come back into the fold to help the future tee ballers start the process all over again!

Priceless memories...

I discovered one of the things i love about softball this past weekend.
While watching our DD hurle the rock on the mound , a 10 u team passed by our bleachers on the way to thier game.
It almost brougt a tear to my eyes , reflecting back to how far we have come.
Ah the memories.
Other than God , family and country is there realy anything better than the time you spend with your children playing sports ?

HELP EVER GIRL YOU CAN PLAY MORE AND BETTER BALL

Right there it is.

As I recently told someone, dd and I were running errands and saw a co-ed group of adults playing slow-pitch in a nearby field. I could tell she wanted to check it out, so when we got back, I told her to go on over and ask if she could play, too.

At first she said no, that would be weird. But I said "If you and some friends had a pick up game going and someone came over with a glove and asked if they could play, you'd be delighted."

She went over, and it turned out to be a church team, and they were indeed delighted to have her practice with them. She had a great time and even got to use a wooden bat for the first time, lol!

It was just like when she was a little girl---asking new kids if she could play, too. She came home muddy and grinning, and it did my heart good to see her play just because she loves to play.

Watching DD 1st home run. Inside-the-park, and close play at the plate. She hasn't stopped smiling since Sunday.
