Who are the top 10 Organizations in Ohio? What Organizations do most for the girls from the developmental stages to getting the girls to the college level. Who do you think are in the top 10 and why.

Lol. Wonder who will be the first to reply. This is a powder keg waiting to go off. Someone will be upset if their org doesn't get a nod.

Drew, We will see some chest thumping on this one, once someone starts it,Don't think I can name ten.Criteria for this could be tough, some just recruit (steal lol) and don't develop players.

Throughout my 10+ years of watching Ohio softball I have seen them all. I will place an emphasis on the older ladies because you are speaking about college prep. *****Disclosure - this is just my opinion.*****

1. Ohio Lady Lasers
2. Ohio Stingrays
3. Ohio Outlaws
4. Ohio Classics
5. Cincy Doom
6. Buckeye Heat
7. Cincy Static
8. Ohio Ice
9. Ohio Wolfpack
10. MV Express

Are we looking at college placement or developing? College placement my list is:

1. Outlaws
2. Lasers
3. Doom
4. Stingrays
5. MV Express
6. Buckeye Heat
7. Hawks
8. Classics
9. Wolfpack
10. Ice

Some of these I needed to go to when my dd was 10U and her former pitching coach Marie told us who to tryout for.

I would certainly think the Lasers would be hands down top of the list. In every age group they are pretty much the team to beat. Who else can say that? When you lay out the best teams top to bottom there are probably several age groups where they have multiple top 5 (in state) teams. I would go Stingrays next.

There's about 7-8 that would be pretty hard to argue with being in the top 10 when considering all age groups, and then the next 7-8 could be debatable if they are top 10 or top 15, but it doesn't really matter a lot where exactly you place them in my opinion. Of course, there are some organizations who just have teams at certain age levels or who have stretches of time where they are very prominent. "Development" can mean a couple of different things to different people ... to me, it's about teaching skills at the youngest levels, playing great competition and refining skills at the middle levels, and then promoting players to college coaches at the upper levels.

I can only comment as to teams I have a little bit of knowledge on...Here goes. Lasers, in my opinion have the longest running history of successfully getting girls recruited. Last years Blue team was ridiculously talented and loaded with committed players. I expect Red will be representing very well this year as well. The Outlaws are doing a wonderful job as well, just not as long of a track record. The Outlaws 18U and 16U Premier seem to be loaded with commits, and the organization has found a successful recruiting plan for sure. Ohio Classics Mix, was loaded with committed players last year as well. Ohio Hawks 18U Gold Hutchinson, the majority of his players are committed, and he understands the process very well. Ohio Hawks Lenos, 5 girls committed last year with 8 receiving offers. Cincy Static 97 is another team loaded with commits.

In no way am I trying to slight anyone or any organization. I'm the first to admit there is much I don't know. If your org. is cranking out college players sound off. It doesn't have to be chest thumping. There are many players out there that aspire to play in college and may be on the wrong path.

As for developing players...Real development happens outside of practice. It's my opinion the best coaches hold players accountable. As the girls get older it is obvious who is putting in the extra work to be special. If the coach doesn't require everyone to work, these hard working girls will gravitate to teams that do. Again, just an opinion.

That's because we got THE MAN Warren Wolff. He works tiredlessly for his girls.

IMHO, it depends on what part of your question you want answered, there is a huge difference between teaching the game, developing talent, showing kids and (sadly enough sometimes parents) sportsmanship and helping get prepared for or into college. The lasers hands down year in and year out have more top level teams at each age group than everyone else.(Dont start hating on me for saying this as i am not a laser fan but facts r facts.) Now as far as getting into college or getting your child in front of the right people to better their chances of playing in college then i would have to say warren wolff (outlaws) does a good as job as anyone. LASERS,OUTLAWS, (the rest you can put un whatever order you like) CLASSICS,DOOM,THUNDER ELITE,WOLFPACK,ICE, VALLEY EXTREME, AND HAWKS.

Yeah... They were all good organizations back in the day, but that Coke & Ice team was one of the most talented teams from Ohio that I ever seen over the past 14 years!!!

Lee,

Great list! Coke and Ice was extremely talented but I'm gonna give you a few more total knockouts from back in the day.
1. Sundogs 18U
2. Lasers Aqua
3. Lasers White
4. Ohio Slammers

and I'll give the nod to Aqua. Man did that team have power and some blazing speed.
