#5alive, I know that neither the Cincy Doom nor Lasers Green will be there. They are both playing in the Colorado Sparkler Showcase. Also just found out that Valley Extreme Blue will not be there either.

Ice2dad, with the 3 above mentioned teams not playing, looks like the total picture will not be seen this weekend...not with 3 of the best teams in the state not there!!! :-/ We'll have to wait until aftert his weekend, GAPSS, Stingrays and ASA/NSA 'A' Nationals to piece these rankings togather. :)

I believe all the top 10 teams(Your poll not mine) will be at Stingrays. ?I guess that will give the best measuring stick as to who is placed where. ?From my knowledge it is the only tourney ?that all the teams are at. I cant wait to get to 18u where nobody feels the need to justify their status week to week.

not all of the "top teams" listed above will be at Stingrays according to the pools - looks like the "pollsters" will need to wait for ASA Nationals in Normal, IL - remember all of these teams are very good - that's why the weekends aren't decided until the last game is played on Sunday!!

Wow, we've got a hot one going now! I enjoy the polls and predictions as it adds a sense of fun and buildup to the upcoming events. I try to keep it in perspective, and hope people agree to disagree. Now most people give intelligent posititions, and others "express gut feeling and loyalties", and that is ok too. But for a "true" number one, we must play the game, and do it with all participants.

The NSA states will not provide all comers, as Compuware did not. GAPS and Stingrays will be without all, so the next best might be comparison at Nationals - until somebody host another tournament and invites the "Rodney Dangerfields" of Ohio Softball.

I strongly felt the Laser Green would be number one until knocked off the perch by someone else. That happened by a strong Valley Extreme Blue team, a team that "found an opening in the armour" of the Lasers Green, and found out how to score more runs than them with Kelly on the mound. Now, will that be the case in two weeks, three weeks down the road? Until it happens it is a matter of opinion.

The Valley Extreme Blue have been on a roll, losing only once in many games. Who exposed them? The Cincy Static caught them when no one else could, so should we not list the Static as a top team? Were the Valley Extreme just caught up in the first weekend "get to know you better" and play as a team period? Since then, they are perfect.

Do you give the same consideration to the Laser Orange and Ice Richards, and say, they are young and will mature? The Orange seem to get on a roll, but are vulnerable in games they should win and don't. The Ice Richards are solid but can they hang with the Green and the Extreme? They are one up on Newsome, but will that be the same the next time? The Ice Newsome have the majority of the Wolfpack Gold to go along with a good core from last year, so shouldn't they get some time together to jell?

Go south, and you have the Doom and Miami Valley Express Red. Who have they played, and what are their "head to head" matchups? The Doom lost to the Extreme Blue, but beat the team that beat THE real "Shockwaves" team - and wasn't that the Express Red? The Doom get their shot at the Laser Green and a rematch with the Valley Extreme, so will the results be different?

Go to Central Ohio, and the true "Rodney Dangerfield" of the group, the GCKA Nightmare pops up. Should we cut them some slack as they played a rugged spring schedule with only 4 to 5 starters, and might have given the Slammers (are they the best 14u team?) what could of been their most competitive game of Tigertown with a number 4 pitcher who is not much older than most of the 12u pichers in Ohio? When was the last time you saw the Nightmare at a 14u tournament, because the most I can gather they decided to move up to 16u.

What does all this come down to? A play off system - now we are like the NCAA and the BCS! I guess only time will tell, and see who is on top at the end of the year!

1. Valley Extreme Blue - they beat the Lasers Green, so revenge will be a factor
2. Laser Green - a chink in the armour, but that will be repaired
3. Nightmare - if they ever decide to play 14u again
4. Doom - they can take huge leaps in the next couple weeks
5. Ice Richards - they are one up on Newsome
6. Ice Newsome - they are one behind Richards
7. Lasers Orange - Uncle Stan wasn't kind this past weekend
8. Miami Valley Express Red
9. Valley Sting
10. Cincy Static - did they really beat the Extreme Blue or is someone pulling my leg?

oldtimer is back with a vengeance....now where would you get to find such a plethora of information (that's surprisingly, non biased!)?

let's sticky-note this post and see who comes up with that all-illusive grand-daddy tournament

(and probably hear all the grumbling of teams that were left in the cold like a red-headed stepchild)

oldtimer..well said

the only way to have a true poll is to have all the top 10 at the same tournament..and that isnt going to happen..so the polls are opinions..which is the fun part about it.

as far as the laser green having a problem in one game vs valley extreme blue.
i dont know how many on here saw the game at compuware but it was one of the best games ive seen played by 2 teams period!

shouldnt be listed as 1&2...more like 1 & 1A...these are the 2 best teams in the state, everyone in cincy this weekend can fight for #3...my vote would be for miami valley express.

I saw that game at Compuware. Incredible game till the final out, with Valley Extreme continually taking control, and with Lasers Green battling back in a very spirited game. Agree 1a & 1b. Gotta give Valley Extreme Blue the 1a though based on head to head, getting it done. I believe that Laser Green "may" be the better team overall in the long run (maybe/barely), but at this moment you have to honor the accomplishment of the Valley girls. I have watched them play around 4 games this year, and they rock the ball, run with reckless abandon on the basepaths, and play hard - they are just simply fun to watch. I never would have believed that they would be able to make the Laser Green pitcher pay for mistakes the way they did, and I doubt she would repeat them now that respect has been earned.

On an interesting side note, some of the Valley girls were enjoying immense satisfaction after their win even moreso because they had been rated below the Lasers Green in the pre-Compuware OFC "polls". Nice to see we make an impact, I guess.

We played the Nightmare this past weekend and boy they are a tough bunch of ladies. Great hitters with lots of speed and well behaved too. Hope to see you again late on Sunday somewhere this summer.

I have seen the Valley Extreme and the Lasers Green, and I have to give it to the Valley Extreme. Player for player they edge out the Lasers. Without the standout pitcher, where would the Laser Green be? As for the Valley Extreme, they would still be a top three team without the number one pitcher.
Can someone post who beat who, major tournament wins, etc.?

Oldetimer, what was the comment about Slammers number one; do you really think they can compete with the older 14's? How good are they, do they really deserve number one???

I will agree with the top 2 but I'm going to give my team some love because they deserve it,
We have played an all ASA A schedule finishing top 2 in 4 tournaments, 1st in an ASA A 16u tournament in Colorado and 3rd in the 14u Colorado Sparkler with a 11-3 record on a long Colorado road trip.
Congrats to the Laser green team on a great tournament also in Colorado. Good to see another Ohio 14u team leave the State to play.

How did all the teams in the "Top 10 List" that went to NSA states do. Records? Scores?

nightmare won nsa states, followed by the ice-richards second and laser orange third.
miami valley express red lost games to ice-richards and lasers orange
ice-newsome lost to nightmare and cincy storm
ohio pride lalli beat storm, lost to nightmare

nightmare was 2-1 versus ice-richards this weekend

laser green, valley extreme, doom, and force were not entered

tlg

gauging the talent at the nsa states, i believe the teams entered are very talented at the 14u level, and also play asa. an asa only schedule is nice, but not the only barometer. and while it is nice to leave the state, ohio does offer plenty of competition of it's own in 14u

I don't know where they rank (the whole ranking thing is pretty silly) but the Doom is very, very good.

Let me give this a shot. I have seen most of the 14u teams on the list at some point and I think most will agree on the top 5.

1 - Valley Extreme Blue - Won head-to-head with Lasers Green
2 - Lasers Green - Probably the best team but they lost to Valley Extreme
3 - Cincy Doom 14u - Haven't played much in Ohio but have played in some big tournaments and done very well
4 - GCKA Nightmare - NSA State champs but not as good as the top 3
5 - Ohio Ice 13u - Another year at 14u? Scary to think about
6 - Miami Valley Express 14u - Disappointing showing at State but did not have their number 1 pitcher and were still respectable
7 - Heart of Ohio Force - Can play with anyone but not at the level of the top five - I know, I know I'm biased
8 - Lady Lasers Orange - A little inconsistent, but capable of beating anyone
9 - Ohio Ice 14u - Haven't played in the best tournaments but have done well in the ones they are in. Thought they'd do better at state
10 - Buckeye Heat - Capable of beating anyone. They can really hit.

Others who have won tournaments or made the semis:
Stingrays 13u
Stingrays 14u
Miami Valley Express 13u
Cincy Elite
Cincy Storm
Ohio Blaze
Ohio Pride
Chain Reaction
Tidalwaves
Ohio Crush

I am sticking with my top two, but I will finish the 10:

1. Valley Extreme
2. Laser Green
3. GCKA Nightmare
4. Cincy Doom
5. Ohio Ice Richards
6. Lasers Orange
7. Miami Valley Express Red
8. Ohio Pride Lalli
9. Ohio Ice Newsome
10. Cincy Storm

I disagree with catchfp, as the Nightmare are as good as the top three, based on wins in 14u and 16u.

oldetimer, should I rate the Slammers in 12u, 14u, or 16u ;D

I agree with fsball101 and the GV Nightmare should be 3rd and they are underrated. The Laser Green is tough to beat with their number one pitcher.

I agree right now that the Valley Extreme Blue and Laser Green are 1-2 in any order you like and GCKA Nightmare is a strong third. As far as the Doom are concerned, to make your claim at number 3 you need to prove you can beat the best in Ohio. Why are you avoiding playing the top teams in Ohio? The Nightmare has been playing up a division (16U) and been doing very well.

GCKA are the14U NSA State Champs and the division is loaded this year. Give them the credit they deserve. They deserve their ranking until you prove that you can knock them off or Valley Extreme or Laser Green for that matter. Until you play and beat one of the teams ahead of you, there is no way for the Doom to be rated higher.

Good Luck to the entire girl in the upcoming tournaments, May the best teams win and everyone have an injury free touroment

Wow these are all good teams. We have battled with most (except the Lasers but they are always good) of them this year. Some of our best games have been against these teams. I will say playing this competition has made us a better team this year.

We do not have a winning record against these teams but we do have lessons learned, sometimes the hard way. This is a great list, good luck to everyone in the World Series.
