Top Ten 14u Teams in Ohio

The Laser Green and Valley Extreme are very tuff teams, but I think on any given day any of the top ten teams could beat each other. I'm sure Laser Green thinks the same way with there loss to Valley Extreme. I think the Doom is a good team, but to place yourself 3rd I don't agree with you. GCKA Nightmare is a strong number 3 and they are climbing. Every kid from there team lives with-in 15 minutes from there practice facility. They work 3-4 days a week, plus tournaments 16U every weekend. The Doom played in the fall with the Nightmare and didn't get out to the semis. They lost to the Cincy Storm who was in the NSA States this weekend. The Nightmare looked very good and beat a team that could also beat any team in the State, Ohio Ice Richards. I think everyone should wait until the season is over then we can rate all the teams. But right now my top 5 would be Laser Green still #1 Valley Extreme and GCKA Nightmare #2 and Ohio Ice Richards #3. Number 5 doesn't matter because these are the best 4 teams in the state of Ohio.

I-71 South, I didnt realize that we were ranking 2006 teams, I thought we were talking about this year.

As I look at the list of top tens, the "2007" Doom squad has played and beaten quite a few of the teams listed--so I dont follow stallion2's comment regarding avoiding the top teams in OH. I believe their only top ten loss (based on the lists here) this season was a 2-0 loss to Valley Extreme.

A healthy Doom team most likely wins the Colorado Sparkler instead of a still impressive 3rd place finish---I believe this is a NATIONALLY recognized tourney! I'll skip one weekend in OH for that!

Havent seen the Nightmare yet but based on everything thing I read here, they must be the real deal. Cant wait to see them in person.

I'll save my rankings for the end of the season. Good luck to all!

Here's my weekly Top Ten and there is a shake up this week as NSA "A" States and Colorado scores have rolled in!

1) Lasers Green
2) Valley Extream Blue
3) Cincy Doom
4) GCKA Nightmare
5) Ohio Ice Richards
6) Lasers Orange
7) Miami Valley Xpress Red
8) Valley Sting
9) NWO Irish Blue
10) Ohio Pride

Best of the Rest...

Akron Sapphires
NWO Irish Blue
Miami Valley Xpress Pearson
Cincy Storm Gold
Chain Reaction
C.O. Stingrays Blue
HOO Force
Ohio Tidalwaves
Cincy Elite
Buckeye Heat Allen

Note: To be considered a Top Ten team, teams must play in Top Tier tournaments such as Compuware, Sluggerfest, ASA Akron, NSA States, Stingrays and GAPSS. 2nd Tier but still strong tournaments such as Tigertown, Toledo Shootout, Columbus NSA, Heatin It Up, Sparta and Uncle Stans will also be concidered. The final guage/grade will come from results from ASA and NSA "A" Nationals.

A fair question for all teams is...How many of these tournaments have you played in and how have you placed? This is how a rate the above mentioned teams. Good luck to all on a strong 2007 finish! :)

Fastpitch my mistake, the computer blacked out and I had to repost everything twice and was rushing through it...lol. I even left out remarks on all the Top Ten teams. I'll add the Muski Chix who battled in ITB of the championship game before losing to the Ohio Slammers by one run down in Zanesville! ;)

fsball,
I will get back to you as soon as I'm done with my "studies", as I am currently working on GAPS 16u (Ohio Freeze?)

I think Bill will be very happy with the Lil Slammers ratings, they are for real.

I am looking forward to seeing some individual matchups at GAPS, looking for a stampede of a game.

Missed a fun NSA states, but heard it was great. ?Got the scoop on many impressive teams and situations by teams (what was the call of the tourney), and hearing several teams like the Sapphires, Nightmare, Tribe, and Classics stood out. Sapphires confirmed they will be tough to score on, and theNightmare demonstrated their outstanding depth on the mound this weekend (I was waiting to hear about ever since a certain "VElite" girl joined the team).

Results to follow soon

Found another old thread and thought it to be interesting how the game has evolved over the years.

Definitely interesting. No love for Colorado, and you had to play NSA to be "elite".

I saw one org listed that no longer exists at least I don't think so and that's Chain Reaction.

The Compuware pools looked a lot better then than they do now. I see I commented on Michigan umpires. I'm glad I didn't say anything bad since I now coach in Michigan!

Man those were the days, good hard fought games between some really good teams and coaches. Should be a lot of fun this fall dropping back down to coach 14u again.
