Top Travel Coaches......

To go along with topic trend of late. Who are the best travel coaches. You can make your own criteria. Example, game management, communication with parents and dd, skills development, organization skills. No bashing needed. As a coach I know I respect several travel coaches and we share information readily to help the girls out.

Ok I have a few and in no order....

Marie Shaver- Laser-orange
Wayne Baker- Lady Irish 18U-Blue
Norm Kujawa- Wizards Elite 16U (also Central Catholic in Toledo's varsity coach)
Kevin Snyder- SGS Magic 16U (also an asst. Coach at Owens CC a JC college)
Dave Day- SGS Magic 18U (former Ohio Peppers grand puba)

IMO all great coaches and I would love to have my DD play for any of them.

I would be curious to also know what you like about the coaches. Is it their style, that they are good teachers of the game, or what makes them a great coach?

Maybe when posting coaches name, also put what age group they are coaching. We are new to travelball and don't know what ages they coach.

The Ohio Wave coaching staff is excellent (not including myself). They have a ton of energy and knowledge.

Two of them that have coached my daughters are Rich Rosinski (14U) and Mike Weaver (12U).

Rich has coached my oldest DD and she loves both him and Erin. Rich brings energy and passion for the game. He gets his teams to play hard and smart. Rich's teams always know how to play softball. The girls respect him and he respects them. Rich gets a lot of the credit for making Butter the player she is today.

Mike coached my youngest daughter in her first year of travel softball. She was one of two nine year olds that Mike had on his 10U team. With the talent on that team (they won five tournaments that summer and finished in the top ten at the USSSA WS) he could have easily pushed her towards the back burner but he did not. He made her a valued member of the team. Mike has great communication skills and he relates extremely well with the girls. He studies the game and makes sure his teams are prepared to play.

That is my two cents. These two gentlemen do a great job as do many travel softball coaches.

I`ll second that! Always enjoyed watching Mr.Caton coach and teach the girls he has year in year out. Enjoy talking with him between games. He is truely one of the good guys in our state.

I would like to put my vote in for the Nightmare 16u coaches out of the Columbus area. The Abbruzzese brothers do a very good job at all phases of the game. They always seem to have good teams whether they are softball, wrestling, or football. Old school mentality with new wave thinking, their teams are very disciplined, athletic, well conditioned, and strong fundamentally. They really know how to motivate the players to play hard.

Every sporting endeavor I have seen them associated with over the years they are very, very successful no matter the team, no matter the sport.

Kasey Whitehead-Reis, Hurricanes Gold 18u. She played D-I and for the Racers. She understands all aspects of the game and is really great with the girls.

Bill Lilley, Slammers 14u. Very knowledgeable and knows what it takes to succeed.

Ron Poole, Ice 18u. Great teacher of the game.
