Pitching and Pitchers Discussion Who should call the pitches?

I agree with Wave, I do it to put our team in the best position to win. Our pitcher and catcher have enough to worry about already. No one on our team studies the other teams like me and no one probably knows our team better than me also. I dont' want to sound like I'm bragging. But between games, who's at the field watching the next team we play, not our pitcher and catcher they are get lose. Its me, or we try our best to get balls hit to certain areas in different situations.

A good example a few weeks ago, we where the visiting team, and we where in the ITB, and they had a runner at 3rd with 0 outs and the bottom of the order up. I thought about walking the next girls on purpose but that would have brought up the top of their order. Instead, we had our pitcher pound it down in and in, and it worked out as we where able to get 2 ground balls to the left side to get out of the inning while being able to hold the runner.

After they came off the field, I explained to them what we where doing.

Also, you know as a coach pitchers that tell you they have 5 or 6 pitches usually think they all work, and in reality they should use their best 2 or 3 in key or tough spots, instead of trying one.

Just watch the pros, or any college just about and you'll see the coach calling the pitches. I think the coaches that don't call them, because they don't know how to for the most part. Some do, but I would guess the majority don't really know how, or know the game. Good coaches that know the game are hard to find in reality, there are still a lot of daddy ball coaches out there. I'm not saying that's bad so don't get upset, some dads know the game. But how many people can you think of that start their own team just to get their kid some more playing time, or for them to call the shots.
