Why all the chest pumping

Seems like everyone feels the need to start there own thread about how great they are. Don't recall seeing this in the past is this the new breed of young coaches 10u 12u.

I've noticed that, too.

The same goes for a thread like "Who are the best 14U players in N.E. Huron County whose jersey numbers are between 21 and 23?" ...Everbody wants to be recognized I guess, even if it means soliciting for a compliment.

The trick is to not get carried away by them. A little is okay, when it starts sounding like the war drums in an old Tarzan flick though...:cap:

Agreed.....

My dd will be at the pitchers and catchers camp (7/21-7/24) where your dd plays. Does she have to work the camp or does she get a pass for this one?

It really is fun to just sit back and watch. After the rookie parents get a little "seasoned", they calm down quite a bit. Then they start to enjoy each bite of their walking tacos, instead of just wolfing it down!

I say shut up and let's see it on the field!! When you have to tell people how great you are, you usually aren't very good. If you are an awesome player or team, people will notice on their own without you having to tell them over and over. If you talk the talk, you better walk the walk!! I hear ALOT of people saying how great their kids are but after seeing them play, I think maybe the Mommy/Daddy goggles need a new prescription.

I think it is generated by the team polls, mostly coaches who feel they are not getting enough votes in the polls, posting their tournament wins...."we beat these teams, so why are they ahead of us in the polls".....

Haven't seen much of the "we beat these teams" chatter on the 14U poll (haven't paid any attention to the other polls). We beat one of the teams ranked ahead of us last weekend, and frankly all that did was make me inclined to vote for our team as in the top 10 but still BEHIND the team we beat. Their record is better and they have beat us consistently until this last game.

Maybe it's a young team thing? The more experience in Ohio fastpitch, the more you recognize how many REALLY good teams there are out there.

They are mostly the younger age groups showing their new enthusiasm, i dont think they can muster even one vote in 16u polling, noone really wants the notoriety.

I actually wish more teams would post results, good and bad. I just want to see how everyone is doing against each other. We can't all be at every tournament with every team every weekend so unless people post how they are doing it is tough to find out. I try to get on and post results of every game we play, win or lose.

Nothing like having that "target" on your back. Coaches and players work hard to have that "target" and like being the "target" for the other teams to zero in on.

Everybody should want that "target" on their back.

I don't see this as anything new. It does seem to happen more with new parents of 10u and 12u girls, but I've also seen it with the same people as their daughter moves up in age. They create multiple identities and the chest thumping seems to follow them. They start threads such as "who is the best center fielder?" or even more specific threads "who's the best lefty slapper center fielder?" just to put their daughter's name out there. Not difficult to figure out their identity or their agenda. ;)

Yeah  .... at 10u & 12u heard this happens, at 14u saw it happening, at 16u doing it, now ......... ;& :)

The game belongs to the girls (er, Ladies).

The older moms aren't quite as perky;& as the 10U and 12U moms, which makes it a lot harder.:lmao:

Well, Knights - those "older" moms are a little more sophisticated from their experience... I kinda like that. :D

I'm not really noticing it. Saw this thread and looked around a bit, not seeing it. Sure, there are some posts in the tourney results section, but seems to me people are SUPPOSED to be posting results there, no? I'd actually like to see more results posted and I don't even have a kid playing full time this year. (and that one drives herself to the games without me) Why not cheer on the kids?

If it says Coach Billy and Coach Bob lead their team to greatness through their exceptional mentoring skills, sure that's wrong. If it says Sally and Emily got clutch hits to come from behind to win a game, good for them.

For some odd reason, I'd rather look at the scores from the Beaver Cleaver Memorial podunk tournament than spend 10 seconds reading a headline that says Senegal 1, Bolivia 1 in an EXCITING matchup at the so-called worlds greatest sporting event.
