I believe that you still can. What section of the state are you in? You would need to contact your local ASA umpire group for more details.
At this point in the year, the only issue might be attendance for any mandatory meetings or clinics your local group has already held. But that is something that will differ from area to area and something your local association can answer for you.
For instance, in the central district there are two different three-hour rules and mechanics meetings and attendance for at least one of them is mandatory if you wish to be assigned games. One of the meetings has already passed and there is one more the last weekend of March.
You can find your local association or commissioner through the ASA web site.
If that is the class organized by Jerry Fick, I would highly recommend it. Jerry is an excellent instructor and also on the ASA National Umpire Staff. I'm sure that they'll cram a lot into those two days!
Participants in this class will receive both ASA and NFHS (high school) certification. There is a $110 charge to attend, which covers the normal registration fees for both associations, all rule books, class materials and lunch.
I actually heard about that, but am unable to attend both that session as well as the session in Dayton, but am looking for something similar to that. I am currently in school in Dayton, but will be in NE Ohio this summer.
