ACE certification - captions for hearing impaired?

I have a hearing impaired that makes captions necessary. I cannot take the certification course and now it is a requirement at ASA tournaments. I cannot get a reply from ASA concerning this issue. (I contacted them last year and again recently)

Any advice from the legal community on how to handle this issue in case this becomes a problem at tournaments?

Jeeez...

The test is multiple choice and easy. If you get a question wrong you are asked the question over and over again until you get it right. The questions and answers are written on the screen, not spoken so I don't see a hearing impairment stopping u from getting Ace certified.

To be honest the video and accompaning sound track are boring enough that you may be at a distinct advantage by turning the volume off and playing solitaire while you wait for the opportunity to answer questions.:)

Agreed.

And if you wait for the video to load all the way you can drag the progress bar to almost then end and skip almost the whole thing and still get the questions at the end.

In my opinion it the principle that ASA (as well as other agencies) are mandated to provide captions for the hearing impaired. If they cannot abide by federal laws then they cannot prohibit hearing impaired coaches from attending ASA national tournaments.

I thank you for the information that it is easy and you can retake until you pass the exam but does that excuse ASA from doing what they are required to do? To ignore request for information concerning this issue.

How many tournament TDs are actually going to check for current ACE certification and then turn a team away at sign-in because they dont have it. Other than an ASA/USA qualifier or State tourney, I don't see it happening
