To all that are in

THIS TOURNEY HAS ME CONCERNED!!!!!!!! i HAVE NEVER IN THE PAST 4 YEARS HAD A TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR AVOID MESSEGES,NOT RETURN MESSEGESOR EVEN COMMUNICATE USING THE FORUM. IGAVE ALL CONTACT INFO ABOVE.

I FOR ONE WILL BE MAKING OTHER PLANS!!!!! I ONLY HOPE THE ASA DIRECTOR IS LOOKING INTO HOW THE TOURNAMENT WAS HANDLED AND WILL CONSIDER EITHER A DIFFERENT DIRECTOR OR A WHOLE NEW ORGANIZATION TO RUN IT.

BEST OF LUCK TO ALL TEAM THAT HAVE ENTERED. I'M NOT ACCUSTOM TO MAIL MONEY TO A LOCATION THAT WILL NOT EVEN REVEAL WHAT ORGANIZATION THEY RE AFFILLIATED WITH.

WE WILL BE PLAYING IN AN NSA TOURNEY INSTEAD OF THIS ASA ONE. NOT WHAT WE WANTED TO DO ,BUT ITS WHAT WE HAVE TO DO!!!

Bill,

With all due respect, I don't think you need to shout and be angry. This lack of communication is not uncommon when dealing with some ASA Qualifier tourney directors. I'm having the same issue with another ASA director in Indiana. I think in this case it was very clear that this forum would not be a priority.

I think everyone should take a different perspective. These Qualifier directors have a valuable comodity with a very limited supply- an ASA berth to the National Championship. There are only 2-3 available in this region. The berth means a great deal to my team and other teams whose goal is to play the best of the best; our whole tournament season is based around this quest.

In the younger age groups the goal is just that, to play the best. In the older age groups the stakes are much, much higher. The college exposure at these Qualifiers and National Championships is unequaled and invaluable.

I don't know if I'd communicate in this manner but I'm willing to go through this process if my team can reach its goals.

glad to see someone has heard me. I want only to play the best also, but at least a little communication. If the current list of 14U teams is correct it appears to be at least 1 team short.

The list is a month old today. Looks like an impresive slate of teams at 14U already.

Bill and others be angry-I know everyone is busy - but quick email or call- even if just to say - "we're behind and won't have information until a certain date" - is just common courtesy.

With the tournament a little more then a week away, has there been any updates, last minute entries or other pertinate information?

When can coaches expect a schedule? The tournament is quickly approaching.

Thank you,

Thats exactly right... we have been doing this for 11 yrs now and up until a couple yrs. ago we did not know who we played until we got there. ? Does it matter who you play. ? Go ready to play regardless... expect to play the best and nothing less........ ?If you want to cruise thru then something is wrong!!!!! Bring the "A" game or don't come at all! ;)

OhioIceMom,

It's not a matter of who we play, it's WHEN we play, WHERE we play, etc. etc. I have kids from all over and making travel plans is hard when you do not have any details of the tournament. I'm not complaining since it sounds like the tournament schedule will be out soon and there will be good competition at the tournament. BUT what everyone wanted in the first place was just common courtesy and some communication, nothing more. If the tournament director did not want to communicate via the Internet, then snail mail would have been fine too, but I personally did not even receive confirmation about being in the tournament or when to expect schedules, hotels, etc. And please do not tell me about the days before the Internet-I played years before I coached and we did not communicate with the Internet when I played, but we always knew what time our games were at the very least (whether it be communicated by snail mail or the phone).

We just want our schedules so we can plan accordingly. It sounds like that will happen, and as soon as it does the Buzz will die down.

softballcat12 has an excellent position - common courtesy s letting folks know if they are in a tourney or not - the interent makes ot easier and quicker to disseminate information- but it's speed in getting things out quickly to peopl should not mean teams (ours incldued) that have people from various areas that need hotels can wait until 7 days to find out what nights they play. Costs of travel ball are high enough - if you can get by with one night of lodging isntead of 2 it makes a big difference over a season. just look at some of the other tournaments- they have been communcating more frequently. I don't think anyone is aksing for more then that.

I know what it is like to have kids from all over my daughter played for the lasers at 16u and we usually did not find out where and when we played until the tourney before hand........ it makes it hard when you have teams that say they can't play here or at this time.... i will tell you that right now at 10u they had to revamp the entire schedule because a team from iniana just told them they were not coming....... running a tourney is not an easy task!

When I heard that a team pulled out because of the lack of teams or competition I couldn't believe it. This is a ASA N.Q. and if your goal is to qualify, than what a better way to do it! It's nice to play tough teams but you have all season to do it. If you won this tournament the pressure would be off. I don't understand it or am I missing something?
