When I heard that a team pulled out because of the lack of teams or competition I couldn't believe it. This is a ASA N.Q. and if your goal is to ?qualify, than what a better way to do it! It's nice to play tough teams but you have all season to do it. If you won this tournament the pressure would be off. I don't understand it or am I missing something?

Maybe their goal wasn't to go to ASA nationals, maybe they are going to NSA, Pony, USSSA. I doubt they pulled out because of lack of competition but rather for lack of teams. We've played the Lasers and lack of competition was not an issue. I for one would want to play a tournament full of Lasers, Dooms, Stingrays, etc. than a 3 team cupcake qualifier.

Jim,

How many berths are being given at 14u? Just one? I believe that is how the regionals work.

Does anyone know which Xpress team is entered in the 14u? Is this the RED?

Thanks,

Marie

The older Xpress is entered at 14U. Only one berth is available in an ASA National Qualifier per age group. This tournament is a National Qualifier- open to all teams in the country. An ASA Regional Qualifier is only open to teams in the region. This is commonly called the State tournament in Ohio even though Cincinnati is not in our region.

Wave You're joking right! I don't know of any team that enters a N.Q. that doesn't want to go. Also why take a bid if you win; if you don't want to go. Better yet why enter a N.Q.. There are lots of tournaments with Great teams a in them that aren't N.Q. such as Stingrays, Best of the Best, Kidron, Slugger Fest ect. Besides I know that the out of state team pulled for the reason I said... I don't post hearsay! ?Nobody knows what tournament you won when you get to nationals. All teams know is you had to win somewhere. ?Like I said qualify and enter the hardest tournaments you want in order to get ready for Nationals. ?

I doubt very seriously that the Team Indiana team pulled out because of lack competition but more likely lack of teams. Trust me, Indiana softball is second to none here in the midwest. With teams like the Diamond Chix, Dreams, Vipers and Shockwaves, along with newer teams like Chaos and Team Indiana most of their tournaments are loaded. Of course you would have to leave your back yard to know this.

Remember - the people running this tournament are the same ones who run the SPANO indoor leagues -- which also have about the worst communication of any softball, basketball, volleyball, or tennis league I've ever been affiliated with! That should have been no surprise to anyone from northeast Ohio once they were taken to the SSIDL website for information on the tournament. Hope you get your schedules soon but don't hold your breath...it's only Tuesday. (she types sarcastically...)

We have had many obstacle and hurdles to get through and over and changes are still happening as I type this. I am not one that like to post information that will probably later have to be changed, All that happens is a lot of people are confused and people begin spreading misinformation. I realize we live live in a world where we want everything right now. Unfortunatly that can't always happen. I have coached youth sports for almost 35 years, I have been involved with travel fastpitch for alsmost 15 years, enter many tournaments every year. Many times the schedule and events posted oline are not what actually happenes when I arrive to play. Chuck and I are very involved with Girls Fastpitch as anyone who knows us can attest to. We try to run tournaments and events that are in the best interest of the athletes. Some on here haven't liked the way we have reponded to post on this and other sites. I could have posted information many times, however most of what I would have posted earlier would have changed and people would have said that we were very unorganized with that many changes. We have always posted our email addresses, and usually phone numbers when we run an event. we are very easy to contact and we willing to help as much as possible. If anyone wants a schedule of pool play email us at Indoorfastpitch@aol.com Thanks to every team that has entered our tournament.

Yes a team from Indy pulled out last Friday, we replaced that team and another pulled out on Saturday, and we have replaced that one. I don't know which Express team is coming, they didn't give us a color.

When the schedules were completed and we actually had playing times and fields guaranteed the schedules were put together and we mailed them out. I am playing in 10 tournaments this summer. I don't have a schedule for any of them yet. I haven't received confirmation back from any of them that I am in. I sent in the check, they cashed it and I figure I am in. Correction, I know of two of them I am in for sure. If we had email addresses, we emailed people and let them know we had received their entry forms. Everyone knew they were playing in Akron, everyone knew they should be prepared to play Friday night or early Saturday morning. I travel with my team most of the summer, we always plan to arrive the night before. We sent out hotel list to everyone that ask. The fields we are using were just confirmed last week. There are a lot of things we have to wait on other people for. We run many events each year, all for the benefit of the girls. I don't have kids, never have, never will, I donate a lot of money and time to this sport every year. People need to relax, they will receive information as it is available and as it is necessary.

5alive Your missing the point. Whether it's lack of teams or competition I could care less. The point is going to a N.Q. is to qualify for Nationals. When you have less teams you have a better chance to do so. That's my point. Pulling out for lack of teams is not a good excuse when your goal is to qualify for nationals. Now for your attack on my team that was uncalled for. You shouldn't make comments on ignorance. We travel to all the best tournaments or showcases mostly ASA tournaments. We will go to 2 tournaments in our backyard as you put it. The rest are either out of state or many hours away. Our goal this years is ASA Nationals. I know all about the teams in Indiana and you have some very good ones and some great ones. I said nothing bad about any of them. I wrote only to make the point of going to a qualifier is to qualify no mater how many teams there are.
