A request of coaches

One more thing I would add to this thread...

Ohio/Michigan/Indiana/Western PA girls really need to do a much, much better job of informing college coaches of their game times and locations in their e-mails. The difference between the girls here and out west is just night and day. I get tons of e-mails that give me a day and game times, with no location and no opponent. A tournament might use four parks and apparently I'm supposed to find a schedule (which is also difficult for some tournaments, such as this weekend in Findlay), find the girl's team (which is often not given in the e-mail or not specified within a particular organization - i.e. "I play for the Stingrays, Buckeye Heat, Wizards" with no designation as to which Stingrays, Heat, Wizards team) and then locate the girl, often with no team or player profiles and no number given to me in the girl's e-mail.

In a typical e-mail from a California, Oregon, Washington, Texas, Arizona, Nevada player, it often will copy and paste the team's official schedule for that weekend from the tournament website, there will be a color picture of the girl as part of the e-mail, the number, position(s) and everything else one can think of are all in the e-mail, along with adresses of the parks where they will play. A full player profile will almost always be attached. And they often will specify why they are interested in the school to which they are writing.

Great post, Joe!

Question: I've noticed a lot of teams/org moving to Facebook which is much easier to update and great for communicating with the team, but makes it difficult at best to find a roster or playing schedule for the season. Do you think teams at the recruiting ages should also have a regular webpage and, if so, what info should it contain?

So Cal Dad:

Thanks. For our purposes as college coaches, a team or org. being on Facebook isn't of much help. I do think teams should have a website that is kept current. I like to see an accurate roster with player profiles. Even if teams wanted to leave off home addresses, at least give an e-mail address or maybe a phone number. And then the team's schedule is also helpful.

All too often these pages are not updated and sometimes are an entire year behind. Of course, this is more common around here than out west. I can think of a few teams out west that do everything I listed and keep it updated after every weekend.
