Request To All Organizations

Last week I was trying to set-up a last minute scrimmage due to a cancellation. In doing this, I was calling coaches that I've met over the past couple of years. At the same time, I was searching team websites and contacting coaches listed only to find that a majority of the time, the coach listed either now coaches 16U, has moved on to another organization, or doesn't coach any longer.

**I would like to request to all organizations that you update your website. Please make sure the appropriate coach is listed with the correct team along with correct email and/or phone number.**

I'm not trying to complain, just trying to utilize the resources that are out there.

Thanks everyone.

While you are at it, update your roster so I can input your line-up on my IPad ahead of time instead of rushing to do it right before the game! ;)

It's amazing the out of date and neglected org web sites out there. Keep them current or take them down but don't half @ss it cause it makes your org look half @ss. Why would you want to reflect that image??

Cincy Doom is a great example of how to do a org web site.

A team's website is in most cases the main contact for parents, other coaches and perspective players. If they can't keep the website current and accurate I would wonder what else is inaccurate.

There are some organizations where the coach doesn't have access to edit or update the website, that is left to the discretion of the organization president who is not always as involved with the individual teams as they should be. Our organization keeps our website up to date but if they didn't, there would be nothing I could do about it as a coach because I don't have access to it. Just because the websites are out of date doesn't necessarily mean the team is shady. Just sayin.... :)

If every team keeps them up to date, how am I and others going to know how to select a team by how well orginized there org is,just kidding great idea.

Yes but most orginizations have multiple teams and you can find one or two very organized and a couple very neglected. The coach has alot on the plate but someone should be put in charge of keeping the team's site as up to date as possible.....just sayin...

I do think some don't update or show player names, due to the dreaded poachers lurking out there, have seen some teams update to much showing high turnover of players before and during the season, team sites somtimes tell us good and bad about organizations ,but most of the time don't reflect the coach's ability to coach or organise his or her team.

Agree. See a lot of outdated websites. Also, many team pages are blank...why have them.

Amen Scott! Sometimes outdated info is better than no info. Alittle hoop jumping and you might find the right info. Love the sites with no info at all. It's like they are hidding from the IRS or something. :)

We are fortunate to have a web developer who coaches the team, but I have to agree with a couple of others here that you can't always expect this ... we ask our coaches to do plenty already. What should happen in the larger organizations is that the President should find a parent or someone in the organization who has this skill set, and then set up a process where that person has a communication line with the individual coaches to keep it updated. While web sites are a big plus, they're also a luxury that not all teams and organizations are going to have. That's why we have OFC! ;)

I agree that the coaches have a lot to do. I'm not asking for their rosters or schedules to be posted. That's up to them. All I am asking is to be able to go to an organizations website and find out who the coach is of their current 14U team(s) along with an email and/or a phone # where that coach can be reached at. That only needs updated once a year, in most cases. ;&

Again, just trying to utilize a resource that a lot of organizations have.

Thanks to all.

It's not difficult to set up a free web site using eteamz or leagulineup. Then, if you want to, you can spend less than $30 a year for the right to a domain. Again, it's not hard.

Okie ... enjoyed the scrimmage as well ... it was good to get out and play some games again especially with the great weather. My understanding is that the passwords on the site are intended to protect the more confidential info. I know Tony is still working on the site and is just having us test some things at this point. He's doing some pretty cool stuff with it posting training videos and quizzes, and allowing the team members to take "tests" where the results get submitted to him. Was there something you're not getting at that you thought you should be able to? Say hi to your DD and good luck in the upcoming year!

Maintenance is so much easier than set-up. When i did DD old team's website i had the roster with first name, number and position showing with schedule. Pics and stats were protected.

I would be one happy camper if i could pre-load rosters from team websites to iScore. When i tried last summer some sites had 2 year old info and most wouldn't show basic roster info.

So, it's a week later and out of curiosity I went back and checked those websites that I found to be out of date. Not that I expected anything to change just because I asked for it to change. I mean, who am I? Plus, as wrong at it is....not everybody uses the great OFC/Softball Zone.:D But, I thought maybe at least one would. Wrong! Nothing changed. In fact, some are over a year old based on clinic dates they have listed.

My opinion, whether you want it or not ;&, is that this is rediculous. How are perspective players/parents supposed to find out who to contact? How are other coaches supposed to know who to contact? Again, I'm not asking for rosters, just a current listing of coaches and their contact info.

Ok, so now I'm complaining.

And now I'm done.
