admission prices for tournament directors

Curious of what other TD THAT charge for admission to tournaments charge and how do you break down the prices. Example a tournament this weekend is charging $5 per adult $4 for senior citizen $1 10 and under tournament pass $12. The tournament pass is not broken down by age group, does this mean that it is $12 no matter of age? Using my math skills here is what I will pay tonight

myself $5
wife $5
13 year old son $5
11 year old son $5
10 year old son $1
8 year old son $1

$22 to watch 1 game

Why is a 11 and 13 year old charged ? Is this common practice or does other TD use a different age breakdown.

Is there any tournaments out there that think about the economy and family when deciding to charge admission. I understand that this most likely a fundraiser for a team but where will it end. If gas continues to rise and more and more people get laid off, are the TD going to raise admission prices. I would be really interested in how much a tournament makes a weekend. Include admission, entree fee, t-shirts and concessions. I understand that you have umpires and possibly field maintence.

GAPSS does not charge gate fee. The board has kicked this idea around a lot, and will be addressed further in our fall meetings. If we did anything, it would be by carload for entire weekend, perhaps $10. Just thinking out loud.

I think the Parma Wildcats should consider a nominal fee next year. They put on a nice tourney but because of the financial pinch the city is in, there were a lot of trash cans overflowing and bathrooms without TP or stopped up. Nothing like a get rich quick skeem, just enough to cover a couple service workers to keep the park running nice. Parma has always taken care of their recreation and this is a fun, early tournament. I would hate to see it go down the drain because of finances.

How about bringing in a dumpster and having volunters do the work? You could even do it as a team exercise. Each team that is in the tournament is required to empty garbage can A and restock toilet C at a particular time once a day during the tournament. No added cost and things stay clean and stocked for everyone.
