And Now...For Something Completely Different...

Just wanted to give a heads-up to anyone in the central Ohio area that might have a little free time this coming weekend...

There will be an adult men's fastpitch tournament in Westerville, at Highlands Park. It's a chance to see the game at a whole new level, with teams from all over Ohio and three other states coming in on the 21st and 22nd.

If you're in the area, stop by and say "Hi"!

One more thing...we could use another umpire or two to fill some spots. Anyone interested can drop me a line at: bretstumpf@hotmail.com

bretman, i love the "we need umps" disclaimer.....

maybe tryouts/picking up girls for natinals can be like this:

"Attention, there will be a NSA tourney in Berliner the weekend of blah-blah-blah, and we'd like to invite everyone to come and watch how the game is supposed to be played. Parents, bring your chain-link glasses, and girls, if you have a bat and glove handy, you might as well help us fill in our roster because we cant wait to unload the next batch of unsatisfied parents' DD's for someone who didn't sweat blood and tears with the same team the entire season. Playing time is guaranteed!"

Re: And Now...For Something Completely Different..

Well...we really are looking for a couple of umpires! :)

We have coverage for all the games, but the TD prefers using two umpires in every game. As it stands now, some of the pool games may have to be single umpire.

Plus, we're trying to prevent "umpire burnout" from having guys work 5 or 6 games in a row both days. While it can be done- and I've done it before- I feel that you get better officiated games when the blues can have a break every few games.

Are you volunteering, Statman? ;)

with as much trouble as i'm getting myself into here on the FC (wasn't that a show on FOX?), I will not be adding my poor eyesight to any equation...the good lord knows i dont need another parent coming after me with a pitchfork....

I'll be taking my ump "A" game to Perry ballfields and a kid-pitch 9/10u boys game for my nephew's "tournament all-star" team in August. that's where the real fun begins! any time anyone questions a call, i just start talking spanish.... ::) ::)

One nice thing about doing adult games...

...no parents to deal with! ?;)

And the ones that might be there are too old to do much damage.
