Don't even start that ****. Team fees are just the beginning. Forget about travel ball as an investment. It's all about the experience.

But Tony it IS an investment. If it wasn't, we all would be playing Rec ball. It is hopefully an investment in our daughters futures. If not, why are we doing it??? I know about what the girls will learn etc., etc. etc. But to say it is not an investment, I would kindly disagree with you on that my friend.

It's about both. My daughters have had great experiences playing around the country AND it is paying for their college!

Depends on how you define "investment" or what you are investing in. I think it has been demonstrated that in terms of ROI, your money is better placed other ways in terms of gambling on a D-1 scholarship. Experience and memories are priceless and cannot be measured in terms of ROI so I don't personally consider this an investment.

My point was that people shouldn't be whining about the extra costs if they are serious. Serious players are paying for private coaches on top of travel fees and spending countless hours working on their own. Add to that gas, food, hotels, camps, clinics, etc. You might pay a team fee of $500 but it will cost a few thousand dollars to get through a season of travel ball.

I have no questions about why we are doing it though.

Before my DD's got into travel ball, few years ago a buddy of mine said minimum $2,000 per year for team fees, gas, hotels, lessons, etc. As a few people mentioned above, it's all about the experiences and memories. Entire family loves it.

My other buddies have DD's who are into dance/voice big time. We were comparing costs and they were more than our travel costs for a season!

Very happy with the new team! No surprises except for my DD being in one heck of a pitching slump! Great group of girls who are very talented, I think it'll be a great year.

As for the investment, I'm in it because my DD loves the game (me too of course) and what better way for her to meet new friends, learn the game, have fun, travel, etc. We treat tourneys like they are mini vacations!

My DD and I were both surprised at the first practice....pleasantly surprised!!

Run like a fine tuned machine, with great "teaching" coaches and fun, yet serious girls on the field giving their best.

I had a ball just sitting back watching.

Yes it has been pretty fun so far. I'm sure we will see more of each other all year!

We found out last weekend that one of your players is a long lost distant cousin of ours! It was nice to meet up with them after all these years!

Hey it is an investment when you get to a certain level and age.To say its not is laughable:lmao:.You dont pinch pennys when you play at a certain level.(a good collage exposure team) what with motel bills travel costs ect.
But some organizations do have fees they are not up front with.Ball bags, cleats, ect, these costs should be up front so the parent knows what the cost is when deciding to let there dd play. Some of these costs are way high $150 or more. And if you have 2 dds playing thats a big extra.

We are lucky my dds team tries to keep the costs down, lets you know up front what your getting into.

Very happy with DD's new team! Sixth year of travel and fee's are much lower this season then in the past...$350... Includes Fall ball, 7 or 8 Summer Tournaments and Two Sets of Uniforms. Going to stay close to home ( within an hour or so drive) for most tournaments. Second year 16U but they are going to play up in 18U. Looking forward to the season and maybe just maybe getting to take a real Summer Vacation next year!! :)
