My kid started school today and is a junior, in a coupla weeks college coaches will be able to call her directly.

No more phone games. No more silly **** where a coach calls someone and tells me to have her call a number at noon on Friday or any of that.

I'm not even going to joke and say I'll miss it. I'm pretty stoked. Really lookin' forward to it.

Mike

I absolutely can not wait to be out of the middle of my kids lives in general.

Now I know why my parents where the way they were.......seemingly clueless all the time. They had chosen to just stay out of it all.

I adore them but I do not want to be managing their lives. I would rather visit and advise them and then get out. Being in the middle is way way way too much chaos.

It's really not the being involved in it that I don't like, it's the cloak and dagger BS you've gotta pull to relay a message to someone.

The rules are stupid, but whaddayado?

Our time under them is almost over. Kudos to everyone else who's in the same boat.

My condolences to anyone who is not.

DD leaves for her dream school tomorrow. We have purchased a virtual warehouse of sh*t from Bed Bath and Beyond- I have no idea how she plans to fit it all into the 2X4 space she is sharing with her roommate. 16 credit hours of Chem, Bio, Stats, English and some other stuff that will keep her focused on the brass ring. In addition to that there is 3 plus hours of workouts and practice that will hopefully keep her away Psi, Pi, Epsilon, Delta, Gamma crap that makes up 33 percent of the social life at her school.
Mike, enjoy the process, make the best choice with DD as you think possible, and really really enjoy it because it is Sooooooooo
gone in a flash, buddy!

If you are an athlete with multiples of coaches recruiting you and they can call you multiple times a week then you start to understand why that rule is in place.

We were committed early (yes, WE) and it is even worse to be committed and still have to dance around the contact. I had actually formed a neat relationship with her coach over a couple of years and made it fun. I would text him or email about something but he could not reply and I knew it. I would end each communication with something of the following nature....."By not responding you hereby acknowledge that I am the smartest, coolest, and most incredibly good looking human being on the planet...you also are admitting that you have a man crush on me and only recruited my daughter to get to me!!!!"

That drove him nuts and we made it fun! When we did get to see each other on campus he would punch me in the arm and call me a.........lot of things!
