Composite Bats

Well, my DD is growing out of her DeMarini Crystl Bustos bat. She was really happy with this bat but did not have the pop I've seen with the high-end bats. Would like to stay with DeMarini and was looking at the CF4's. Both the 2010 and 2011 models are still selling for about the same price. Any major differences between the two models other than the color and bit more of the silver bonding agent described on their website? I've seen girls hit he CF3's and wow does that bat have a pop, so is why I was leaning towards a CF4 for her.

FYI I'm hearing rumors that the CF4 may be banned by ASA come Dec./Jan. I hope not because dd just got a well broken in used one 2 months ago and loves it

Wow. Any specific reason why they are targeting the CF4? I was looking at buying a used CF3 off a friend so will the CF3 be banned also.

NO clue- I heard the rumor on this forum about a month or so ago...

I don't believe in that rumor - the CF4 is a great bat and made like other composites. They would have to ban several bats.

Looking more at the new bats, what would be the major difference between the Easton Synergy Speed and the Easton Stealth Speed? Is one better for power hitters? Read the descriptions but basically identical. Both of these bats got great reviews.

You won't go wrong with the Easton Synergy. It has great weighting, great pop, it's one piece, out of the warapper it's $50 bucks less than the two peice bats, great reputation and legacy. It was the primary weapon of Alabama and UCLA this past season so it must have plenty of performance characteristics. It has become the bat of choice for the 16 year old girls I coach and the 2008 model is a favorite of my 10U's. Guaranteed not to losen at that joint like the Stealth might.

I would not recommend the Easton Synergy Crystal (2010) based on MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE!! I purchased this bat for my daughter for Christmas last year and she broke it in September of this year (31" -11). This bat was never used in the cage, she never hit her TCB balls with it and it was kept in the house and not used below 65 degrees. She is only 11, 5"4 and 110lbs but managed to break the bat during a hitting lesson (the bat now rattles). JMHO

From my experience with the Stealth line ( any year) If the bat starts to rattle, or "click" at the connection piece, it is starting to open up and be a really live bat. At least that was the case with the slowpitch models.

the diffrence of the 2010 CF4 vs 2011 CF4 is added strength. the 2010 CF4 was going flat after a certain time frame.

Ran into a few buddies this week and they were recommending the L/S Catalyst? I haven't seen many of those bats but all of them said their DD's are hitting the ball much farther. Comments?

I've seen some big hits off the Catalysts, but looking at your previous posts, I'm not sure how they compare to the CF4. I haven't found many reviews online about the newer Catalyst bats. My guess is that all these higher end bats are comparable in performance.

Power hitter will gravitate more to the drop 9 or 8, contact or slappers seem to prefer a more balanced drop 10........ all of the composite bats fall under the same ball exit speed laws, so they are all pretty close together.

Its all a personal preference like cleats or gloves, every bat has its own different feel or color that will appeal to different people, might be smart to wait till after the ASA meeting this week in Shreveport to see what the mind trust is going to ban for the 2011 season.

05 and 07 rocket tech my dd loves her 07 lots of pop cranked one last weekend with it mens fences at 300' the ball did roll to the fence

I agree with you, the 05 was a beast, my dd is a metal head so were trying to find a decent replacement for the 05 as we speak. She wants to try the 2010 Worth Quad and see if how that stacks up

DD has been using the CF4 for a year now and loves it! Used the RT prior for 5 years, likes the RT also but she's a slapper and also hits for power. The CF4 seems to be a better fit b/c its balanced but still has significant pop.
